Dear God, look at what Nashville got from Tampa for Tanner Jeannot (who the fuck is that? Lol):

Cal Foote
1st round pick
2nd round pick
3rd round pick
4th round pick
5th round pick

The years are all messed up, but wow...

Then an hour later, we send Ratcliffe to Nashville for future considerations...

Ya that's one of the most ridiculous trades I can remember. Jeanot is a 3rd liner at best. That's an astronomical return. Everyone just gives Tampa the benefit of the doubt because it's working, but overpaying for guys like this is going to hurt them eventually.

If we dont get a third round or better for Seeler i want him on this team next year and give him an extension.

There i said it deal with it. :fencing:

Lol. I appreciate Nick Seeler's game as a 3rd pair guy. He's fun to have on the team.

I'm just against signing/keeping/acquiring any bottom of the lineup guys until they get some core pieces they can build a cup contender around. If all that returns is random dart throws, so be it. But hey, maybe the lightning want him and they'll give us their 2026 and 2027 first rounders for him.

Braun gets 1 million to be a bottom 6 guy. We keep Seeler if we dont get a 3rd rounder or better and give him a raise to 1 million after he gets paid $775,000 next year. He is well worth that and more. However if we could higher than a 3rd see ya immediately.

Would be incredible if the price continues to rise and someone eventually gives us a '23 1st for JvR and a '23 2nd for Braun.

Tampa has only 8 picks in the next two drafts and none of them are 1st or 2nd rounders...Lol They don't draft a player this year until the 6th round.

If we could get anything close to a haul for guys like Laughton or Seeler because they are rough, tough players that are very difficult to play against and also won't break the bank, I would absolutely do it.

Eat Laughton's salary (for this season) and trade him for a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th, hell yes...Lol

For those who aren't aware, the Flyers are still leading the league in fighting majors. So, it's not like we're skating a bunch of pussies out there as a couple of you might claim...Lol

Exactly. Prices are completely out of whack right now. As a team stuck in no-man's land, this is an opportunity to forge a way out of it. Have to think at least VGK and CAR would still be willing to move their 1sts to make a run, even some other teams might be throwing in the towel looking at what the Bruins/Leafs/Bolts/Devils have done.

Carolina is definitely going to make a splash yet, I would say.

They need a poor man's replacement for Pacioretty and a depth defenseman.

We'll take their 1st this year and Jackson Blake for JvR and Seeler.

Don't forget the Rangers who picked up Terasenko and are putting the final touches on a Kane deal.

What we really need to do is get JvR back in there Wednesday night and have him net a hat trick against the Rags...Rofl

Regardless, between now and Friday definitely seems like primetime to wheel and deal. If multiple teams are overpaying, let them get in a bidding war and off we go.

True. I should've mentioned them as well. The east is loaded!

If Carolina is willing to move first and a third and a fifth I'm sure we could part with DeAngelo and give him back to them. Im sure wed have to eat salary though. Then we would have to take less for JVR because we couldn't eat any of his salary.

Technically they could eat salary on both. I think they can eat salary on 3 contracts at a time and they're not doing it with anyone right now. Two questions are, 1. is Fletcher willing to be creative and do that? 2. which guys do you eat salary on?

JvR is an obvious one. Eat 3.5M for the rest of the year. Maximize the return and it doesn't impact future cap years at all.

DeAngelo is a possibility. Could eat 2.5M this year and next.

Hayes is a possibility. Could eat 3.5Mish, but in order to get a good return for him your probably doing it for the whole contract, so this year plus 3 more. Big impact on future cap years.

If you're really getting creative, what could Provorov get if you ate 50% on him? Guy that can more than hold his own defensively and play 25+/night if you need him to. With the right partner he can be a 1st pair guy, or an anchor for your 2nd pair. Teams would be lining up to add him at 3.3M. I think that's where you can really make a franchise altering move. If Jeanot types can get 5 draft picks and a mediocre prospect back because of some term, imagine what you'd get for giving someone a quality top 4 dman on a cheap contract for 2.5 years. I think that's where the NHL is heading personally. Flyers should be 1st to try it.

Same kind of thing could be said for Laughton. He's better than Jeanot and the Flyers could offer him at 1.5M for 3.5 seasons. The return would be massive. But he's the 'heartbeat' and if you really did want to move him you could get a pretty solid return without retaining cap.

If I were the GM, I'm using my 3 slots on JvR, Hayes, and Provorov. JvR to maximize a rental return. Hayes to get out of an unsavory contract on a guy that isn't fitting. And Provorov to fill up the cupboards with future assets. Puts the Flyers in a bind cap space wise the next couple years with almost 7M in dead space, but if you're committed to a rebuild, does it matter?

Does anyone have any confidence in CF getting a good/ decent return for anyone he trades? Its mind-boggling tI me how he's still employed by this franchise. This should be the year the full tank was in full mode. We shall see how this circus unfolds. My dream scenario is to get a top pick and get Bedard ( pipe dream), fire CF once season ends, and get a competent GM who won't cave on deals to agents or other GMs during trades.

I agree with this but if im not sure i would trade Prov now and probably wait until the summer. Wed be trading with teams with very low 1st/2nd round draft picks and we could open him up to a free market in the summer. The 2024 first rounder is more important than the 2023 first rounder.

Nope haha, but also :(

I'd love a top 5 pick in 2023, if the Flyers can lose a bunch and/or get lucky in the lottery. There's a chance to get a franchise cornerstone in the top 5 this year.

Then I'd also like to see them find a way to add one in the back half of the 2023 1st round too. It's supposed to be a good draft. If it's as good as the 2003 draft was (17/30 picks made at least 1 all star appearance), maybe the Flyers can get 2 all-stars out of it. That could go a long way to making the future look a little less bleak.

We would need a miracle to get Bedard so start heading to church now. :dhd:

CF doesn't have much to work with to get a good return so i wouldn't expect anything good coming our way anytime.

I'm on board with that. Prov would definitely have appeal to more than just the no-doubt-about-it contenders right now. Get a nice bidding war going too.
