We don’t even start a pg.

Mann and PG are our starting backcourt.

Reggie would be a DNP every game if Wall wasn’t injured and we don’t even want to keep Wall.

Putrid shit going on over here.
Yeah someone that create even a little bit would stand out there for sure.

That would work salary-wise, but leaving a lot of salary on the bone (Lakers could absorb maybe 15M more on a Russ deal).
There is still a huge obstacle.

I think it’s insane for the Lakers to lose that Westbrook salary slot.

But, I’m starting to wonder if they will indeed just ride it out.

But even if the Lakers determine the locker room chemistry can sustain the hits it took from the Irving trade drama, Russell Westbrook’s $47.1 million contract is its own issue. As SCNG previously reported, one of the reasons the Lakers decided to go into the 2022-23 season with Westbrook on the roster was to rehabilitate his trade value. But a rival front office executive told SCNG that Westbrook, who is averaging 15.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 7.5 assists this season, still likely requires significant draft compensation to be moved, likely at least one unprotected first-round pick and maybe more.

That makes no sense to me if a team is tanking. They can dump salary and buy him out with limited negative impact. Get picks for your players and move on. Sounds more like a Lakers tax.

Thing is, if it goes bad? They could lose Luka. DFS was a pretty tough piece to give up.

Well I am sure they asked Luka what he thought about this trade before they did it. If there was any kind of friction they would do whatever it takes to get rid of Kyrie to keep Luka

Of course. I don't think the trade would have any negative impact today. When things don't work out perfectly is usually when Kyrie starts causing problems.

Sitting at 4 seed currently though.

Dude, nobody wants Westbrook the basketball player.

Dunno what his payout schedule is.

But, who wants to eat that much salary without a maximum return?

Utah has a better record than the Lakers.

They totally should be tanking.

But, I’m not certain that they are because they have already won too many games to have a great chance to land Wembenyama.

I bet ya Russ would stand out...
Fortunately, you are now the LA team with the incompetent management.

We shit the bed on Wall.

But, we didn’t trade away out depth nor pay him 47 million to be ass.

6.5 this year and a team option next.

Hurts.

But, isn’t unbearable.

Sure, but the Spurs? Hornets?

They're not eating salary. Equal (or even more) salary is going out (and off the books next season). Anyone trading for their pieces will have to match salary. The picks are the reward.

To buy him out as you suggested.

That is eating salary.

Id make him sit his ass on the bench and waive a rally towel.
