No Williams @Wamu ?

Damn.

You watch that game last night?

LeBron had every reason to be pissed.

The refs took a win away from the Lakers.

I've said this before. It's no if but when will a terribly missed call, or a bad call, cost a team a game in the playoffs?

And those bullshit two minute reports the league puts out. If the refs aren't going to be held totally accountable for their in-game mistakes then what's the point of the two minute report, just to piss off fans?

The league has a mess on their hands. And with how lousy the refs are it's time the league gives teams back their challenge if they're successful. In todays NBA one challenge per game isn't enough.

I see both sides of this, but just saying we shouldn’t expect better of officials is a cop out, period.

Like I have said multiple times.

Change the system if you don’t like it.

Human officials are always going to make mistakes in real time. Always have, always will.

Being realistic isn’t a cop out.

Yep. The first should be that if you win your challenge, you keep it. Obviously, they'd have to have a max number of challenges, but last night was a perfect example of why it needs some work.

Both teams had successful challenges and each had at least 1 more call afterward that likely would have been changed upon review but they couldn't challenge and the NBA doesn't have a booth review for those types of calls.

Yep and if you don't want to do that then give the teams 2 challenges instead of 1.

2nd and most important change should be the ability to challenge the non foul calls that are really fouls like the tatum on lebron too. Im even ok if you want to limit these type of reviews to the final 2 minutes of 4th and/or OT

I already listed out the changes that should be made

They need the quick review system

But even the nfl is a joke and gets them laughably wrong

Matt Ryan’s clear incomplete pass in the super bowl

Chris hogans clear drop in the afccg against the chiefs where the ball freaking bounced

But the quick review stuff would be easy. But you need to be able to don it quickly. If it takes more than like 10 seconds it’s not easy

Also sometimes refs just don’t get an angle or players move and block the view. It just happens

It’s hard to fix that without them floating above the floor

And I can tell you from experience, sometimes you see it and still don’t call it. In the moment, maybe you think the contact was incidental or a million other little things that can make someone not blow the whistle.

I always found it a lot easier to see the action clearly when I wasn’t the one holding the whistle.

People being honest about their feelings on a damn message board isn’t anything bad either. You act like people should be banned or something. Let it go.

If the league doesn’t fix this now they are just saying they don’t care.

We are supposed to stay quiet. The players, coaches, and announcers get to point out the bad calls but us here on sportshoopla? Nah we are held to a much higher standard

It never comes down to that 1 play if

1-They made a few more 3 pointers.

2-They didn't blow an 11 point lead.

Bitching about the refs is what losers do.

3. Make their fucking free throws.

Don't think anyone has ever seen me bitch about the Lakers free throw shooting before. lol

They have misinformed opinions.

And they go on and on about it daily.

They stop talking about how much the best officials in the world suck, and you won’t hear a peep from me.

Trust me, I get it. I’ve reffed for a decade

You don’t want to call it late because matter what you’ll get blamed

But if you don’t call it, you’re also deciding the game

It’s a no win situation

Most cannot fathom how many times I’ve been told by a coach “you can’t call that in this situation” but the reality is, if it’s a foul or violation 6 minutes into the first quarter, it’s a foul with 6 seconds left in the fourth

By the way... the missed call last night on Tatum goes 1/100th of the way towards evening the scales for what the refs did to the Celtics in Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals.

There, I said it.

(I'm sure my man @The Q would agree) :heh:

Interesting way to come out of the closet.

Like I keep saying.

Talk about the call. I have no issue at all with that.

Just stop being dramatic and stop saying they are terrible. Because they aren’t.

That bald headed ref looking right at lebron and seeing tatum hit him and not call a foul is terrible

Im not being dramatic at all. There are terrible refs in this league and i bet the players agree with me on this as well

Exactly.

And the pressure is those moments is intense enough in a game with 0 fans.

I can’t even imagine what that would be like in a packed NBA arena.

No matter what the call, half the people going to be pissed about it.

Nothing more unappealing to me than sports discussions that revolve around officials. But I’m an arrogant prick and have to find some way to get involved.

Players play and what comes with that is criticism when they don’t perform well. I think it’s only fair that officials should be open to such criticism.

Well that’s not happening, you don’t have to be so condescending about it. But, it’s a message board so have at it. Like I said I see both sides, but I certainly am not as accepting of mediocrity as you are.
