I liked him coming out of the draft.

Missed sometime for personal reasons.

I wasn’t aware of a injury.

Just thought he got caught in the numbers crunch of Kuz, Zingers, Deni and then lost confidence.

Not that they needed it.

But, he also just expanded the Lakers Japanese Market.

For a team counting Pennie’s, that’s not nothing.

They lost China.

But, gain another Asian market with rabid fans and deep pockets.

Outstanding from a marketing standpoint.

Hadn’t even thought of the latter point

Rui needs most junk shot consistency and he can be a solid role player

13 and 4 in 24 min isn’t bad at all.

If Davis isn’t back Tuesday vs the Clippers, Rui can start immediately.

Gabriel is a hardworking hustle guy, not very skilled on offense.

Better defender than I thought.

Rui needs some serious work on that 3 ball.

But, he can play.

He's not Nunn so that's automatically a win for the Lakers.

Better not be the only move though. Tiny bit concerned moving the 2nds now will prevent them from having the assets to make other moves over the next couple of weeks. It's not like the Lakers have many assets to move. Some of those 2nds might have been the difference in getting a better deal

Short term the answer is to buy more picks each draft

But yes it limits your trade ability on some level

Eh…..

He’s only 24.

I like this for them.

I’m just happy I no longer have to listen to @DJ trying to pretend Nunn is anything more than a fucking disappointment anymore…lol

Now he’s @tlance problem.
11ppg, 54% and 37% in his last 10 before the last game.

…..another reason the Lakers should trade Westbrook.

Now, they have to pay Rui.
DEFINITELY.....

I wonder what Rui's cap hold is......that will eat their cap.

The fact is- if they want to keep Rui, Reeves, etc....they are gonna have some cap holds that eat into the maximum of 35 million they were gonna have....after the cap holds- what/ have like 20-25 mill? maybe less?

Gotta make the RW trade and operate over the cap.

I think another move is likely.

Dunno how big.

But, I like this trade.

it currently makes sense for the Wiz to trade him and get something back since they were not going to resign him- and they needed to decide who to give minutes to- Rui, Kispert, Avedjia.........prob would have made the same choice. He plays the same position as Kuzma---- just not really worthy of too many minutes.

Bad for the Wiz--- they missed again on a top 10 pick that they have very little to show for.

I am okay with it I guess.

The true Wizard move would have been to resign Rui. So getting a couple picks for him is something.

18M!??!!?!

I mean- I guess he was a top 10 pick and the cap keeps going up....but geez..

I mean- this pretty much guarantees RW gets traded then I would think.

unless he signs very quickly for a very reasonable deal WELL WELL below 18 a year.......

the Lakers basically just said- we are not going the cap room route anymore.

They missed on the pick long ago. It was a sunk cost.

The trade gets them something for almost nothing. So not all bad even if the something is very little.

But, I like this trade.

It fills some needs

Younger and cheaper than bog

Still keeps their powder dry

The spurs trade would be something but would clean out those 2 firsts and leave them with like 2-3 seconds and Beverly and Jones to make a final add

You can renounce or sign him cheaper

But resigning him eats into cap space anyway
