They missed on the pick long ago. It was a sunk cost.

The trade gets them something for almost nothing. So not all bad even if the something is very little.

3 seconds isn’t nothing for sure. 4 seconds is market rate for a first round pick….

I am okay with it I guess.

The true Wizard move would have been to resign Rui. So getting a couple picks for him is something.
I didn’t realize his cap hold was so large.

Lakers would need to make a decision on him quickly because he will eat up more than half their cap,if they don’t extend him at a lower number or renounce his rights.

There seconds for a possible 3 month rental is not great, if the Lakers don’t keep him.

Wiz did what they could and moved on.

see the statistical oddity Mobley ahd the other night/

38 points- no free throws, no 3 pointers.

def. some missed calls--- 19 of 27 from the field- all 2 pointers.

You can renounce or sign him cheaper

But resigning him eats into cap space anyway
Yup.

But, that’s why I say they need to do a Westbrook deal.

Even if he gets 10, that’s problematic.

they dont trade 3 seconds without the intent to keep him- i could not even imagine that happening- would be gross incompetence.

but you are right- they have to sign him QUICKLY because 18M in cap hold just skewers them if they go the cap room route.

I dont think they are at this point. It would be hard to beleive.

As I’ve posted before.

Their cap space letting eveyone walk was still limited by empty roster spot charges. It’s another like 8-10m

So it’s more like 20-25m in cap space even before rui deal

I’d like this deal more if it were for Reddish.

But, I gotta say, the Lakers did well to get a young guy with potential.

No reason they can’t still go get Cam, Bogdo in Detroit or Atlanta.

Bryant buys them some time at the 5.

They still have the assets to get a shooter and they would be in good shape for this year and still in the future with some youth.

The Bucks are said to be offering 4 seconds to Houston for Eric Gordon.

That is a hold though, right? They can say fuck it but 3 2nd’s seems kind of steep for a half of season but still it’s 2nd’s
They are in a pickle.

Renounce him, lose his bird rights and you gave those picks up for a rental of a guy that’s still a bit of a project.

Sign him to a lower deal like the Pistons did with Bagley and Orlando did with Bamba, take that chunk of salary directly from open cap space.

If they trade Westbrook and preserve that salary slot, problem solved.

If not, decisions a plenty.

I would have no problem with this as long as we get to see Pop try to get Russ to do the right thing on a nightly basis. No buying him out.
This would address all the Lakers needs.

But, it’s a risk because Poetl is definitely going to eat up every bit of cap to retain this Summer.

I just want to see a pop bust a vein with Russ. I doubt he would play again this season.

Spurs would do the honorable thing and cut him loose.

He’s going straight to Miami.

* please not the Clippers *

We need a pg.

Just one with more self control…lol

Mike Conley, come on down…….

Houston wants more than 4 2nd rounders for Gordon.

Damn, four 2nds is virtually a 1st.

He would be a perfect addition for the Bucks, who could use all of the above alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo. If Milwaukee wants to get Gordon, though, Jon Horst and Co. will have to come up with a better offer than four second-round picks. The Rockets turned that down, according to Marc Stein, and are holding out for a first-round pick for Gordon. That could be an issue for the Bucks, as they only own two of their future first in 2028 and 2029.
