The only thing Caruso and Reaves have in common are they are both white and played for the Lakers.

Those aren't the only things. They are backcourt players, undrafted, could both leave LA as free agents over money (Caruso decision was being cheap, Reaves might be considerably more expensive). Hustle/glue style players every successful team needs.

But sure, playing style is different.

Point being their play style is nothing alike.

Player comparisons should be built on that.

If you have two white undrafted guards that become key rotational players immediately following each other in one franchise, they are going to get linked.

Players are always compared by race unfortunately. Every white wide receiver gets compared to another white wide receiver, for example. It's definitely lazy, but it's also what gets noticed first.

Much like the shift fucking up baseball we got analytics taking things a bit far with hoops. Fortunately analytics doesn't fuck the game up itself in basketball.
Depends how you feel about the abandonment of the mid-range game in favor of the 3. That's analytics driven.

And every time it happens?

They are terrible comparisons.

I bet in the Oxford dictionary there is a picture of Brian Scalabrine next to the word "scrappy"

I like all scrappy glue guys.

Doesn’t change anything.

Bad comps are bad comps.

Agreed with the latter statement. By "we" I don't mean you. The Reaves sensation has a bit to do with the melanin count in his skin. And the fact he is a laker.

Pay site, but a good read.

The article is a tad sensationalistic, but both injuries did occur because defenders slid into 'charging' positions.

Personally, I think the feet should be set for a full second or two, but I would be okay with expanding the protective arc a bit more to protect your players.

Apologies if this has already bee discussed, but the playoffs just started and I'm trying to catch up after my slumber.....

This is all terrible

The arc needs to be shot into the sun with the advance the ball on a timeout rule

Use real basketball rules for travels

Charges are good defense, anyone who says otherwise doesn’t understand help defense or the defensive shell

It is not the players fault that it’s almost impossible to get a charge call without falling. That is on the culture of the game and the referees to fix.

A defender has the exact same right to a spot that an offensive player does as long as they get there first while in legal guarding position

So what do ya'll make of this (if it hasn't been discussed already)?

I fucking hate it when people use the race card.

To me it sounds like the dude was being heckled and he just simply handled it the wrong way.
