Not sure how they can step out on only tabulating 16 ballots out of 100. That’s a really small sample size. I have many issues with that all defense. No Bam and no Bridges is a travesty.

No patience. Do we need a preview of what might happen? I think your chart had more than 16 ballots, lol.

I’m surprised but he only played in 49 games so there must be a games played restriction on the average. He averaged .88 per game though so he really is the ckear leader.

Yeah, must be the games played. I did edit my post above. Looks like Williams, Kenrich and Isiah Joe would push down Reaves a total of 3 spots, still on the leader board though...

I don’t disagree on their needs and his fit. I disagree on adding a guy that is getting paid $40M/year to do that specific job.

Plus no sure thing Minny would move him when they would get little for him. It would look terrible on the FO a year later

It's a tough spot for them, imo.

Assuming Kyrie stays and commits to actually playing basketball, adding Gobert would make them a much better team...but not a contender.

His contract is the kind of money you pay a guy who can make you a contender.

But who is available that could make them a contender?

So do they go ahead and get him so they can be a tier below contender status?

Yep. It’s a spread sheet. I’m not sure who is keeping it. Here’s what they have as of right now (1st place votes, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th) - the 2nd -5th is very incomplete as many have just announced their choice and not the whole ballot.
Embiid 25, 5, 1, 0,0 290 points
Jokic 5, 10, 8, 0, 0 160 points
Giannis 5, 5, 10, 0, 0 135 points
Tatum 0,0,0, 16, 2 50 points
SGA 0,0,0,2,6 12 points

I agree with @thunderc in that this one award should be a vote by only players and coaches. The media has no idea what they’re watching. They don’t know or understand the scheme being played, what the player’s role is in the scheme, how a rotation is supposed to flow, etc…. Because of this, the votes become reputation votes.

Yeah I think the entire all defensive team should be voted on by players and coaches.

Except for last year when the Ringer waged a campaign of “Why is this always a Big Man award? Why don’t we celebrate perimeter defenders” in order to get Marcus Smart a DPOTY career achievement award.

Agreeing with @thunderc is a great plan of action.

Means you will be correct the vast majority of the time.

Fight me, haters…lol
