No matter what happens with this deal I don’t think it can be as bad as the Nets/Celtics trade.

That is just one.

It is terrible. But only approaches that level if the Wolves are high lottery for a few years.

And that is a possibility.

Well yea

Year 1 is prime KAT and McDaniels and Edwards on rookie deals and they might miss the playoffs. Naz Reid is a UFA also.

It isn’t the worst trade in history. Not even close

But it is ridiculously bad. We all knew it had no chance of working when they made it. It was a drastic overpay for a guy who should have been close to free because of his contract.

Gobert and Townes just don’t fit. Team is better without Gobert.

The funny thing is we knew they wanted to do this, whether it was Gobert or someone else’s

They drafted Kessler for them

They basically wanted a bigger Vanderbilt, I think part of it was trying to keep Townes out of foul trouble as well

It has backfired lol

Let's see if they have to immediately turn around and trade Gobert or Kat. At which point you would've given up all those assets for a year or two of those 2 and whatever you get back. Or if in 24 25 they lose Ant then this becomes REALLY bad.

NBA wise I'd go Chamberlain and Barkley being traded along with the Nets Pierce Garnett deal. I know Barkley wanted out but perhaps someone has more insight on Wilt.

Dallas trading for Gobert makes the most sense for basically eveyone at this point

That would've been perfect. Sliding KAT to the 4 for maybe 8 to 10 a game and having Kessler at C for 20 to 24 minutes or so.

Rudy would be a substantially better fit with Kyrie and Luka

getting the 10th overall pick this year would basically negate say the kessler pick last year and their own pick this year.

The rest would be rough, but it's an offset.

Plus there was some value having gobert this year and actually making the playoffs.

Also, moving Beasley and Bev turned out to be positive on their own (plus opening up time for a free look at Nowell).

It's still bad, but it is also not insignificantly negated with some of those moves.

If Chet who we think he is and okc make the necessary roster upgrades in the summer then i fully expect them to be a top 5 seed next season

I could say the same for the Pels and Zion.

Two fun teams who could really shake up the apple cart

I’m not sure that makes any sense for Dallas. That would be a way to run off Luka. At least the Kyrie experiment had an out this offseason. The Gobert deal doesn’t have an out anytime soon. I don’t see it.

They need a defensive anchor

A guy who doesn’t need the ball much

They have floor spacing 4s

It’s a good path back Imo

Yep. The biggest hole in Dallas is the defense. Putting a rim protector in the mix helps mitigate a lot of that with one move. They’d also be buying the asset cheap at this moment.

hey entered play against the Hawks as the league’s second-worst team on the defensive glass.

So, they’re bad at it.

But they shouldn’t have been that bad against the Hawks. There would be two Heat players standing under a missed shot, and somehow the ball still ended in Clint Capela’s hands. It was as if Miami’s starting five were blindfolded, taking swings at the ball like it was a piñata, and whiffing.

Disagree. Gobert makes up for the teams best player being a shit defender.

I do assume they'd have to move Bertans and Hardaway with that move also. Or sign and trade with Wood.

And bullock

Probably can’t do wood since I don’t think you can combine players with wood in a S&T
