When trying to teach my blockheads how to write in cursive, they asked me why it was importang.

I said, at the very least, you should be able to sign your name to your check.

They asked me what a check was.

I am clearly failing these kids.

The other day my son (5) asked me to look up the score of the Warriors game. He does this literally every morning after their games. Dude is obsessed.

Anyways I told him when I was a kid I used to have to look up the box scores in the sports section of the newspaper to see how we did. He asked me what a newspaper was.

That was a moment for me.

Why do I have to believe that? That has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not I believe someone should be punished for a crime they didn't commit and didn't violate a team rule.

If I were the coach, I wouldn't care if he was a scrub, a star or a role player...if he didn't commit a crime or violate a team rule, I'm not suspending him.

By the same token, if he pulls that mock frisking thing...I'm suspending him for that and making sure that he spends a lot of time being subjected to the evils of the strength and conditioning coach. Those fuckers are the devil.

Every organization has that.

Because you can’t specifically list out all the things a person can’t do.

The most effective rules are generic ones.

It is why most teachers use like 3-4 classroom rules that can be loosely applied to anything.

Mine are always determined with input from students, but they end up being pretty close to this:

Always Do your best
Respect everyone
Be safe
