He’s never getting one. They hate the dude. MVP? Bwahahaha. Fuck that. Let me see them put the man on 1st team NBA before we can even get to that next level.


I’ll repost what I posted last night when I couldn’t sleep because I was drunk and high.

Who do you have as best player to never win an MVP? Did a little work but not much. Came up with Jerry West, Alonzo Mourning, Pat Ewing, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady all in the running.

Chris Paul? Scottie Pippen? Clyde Drexler?

Fine, define your criteria. No "eye test", as that means nothing consistently.

1. Winning team so top 3 seed - can extend to 4 in a special circumstance
2. Exceptional two-way play unless a player has far and away a next level offensive year despite being a liability defensively
3. Transformative nature wherein you can demonstrate this player’s presence makes him the straw that stirs the drink for his team’s success.

Mitchell not in the top 10 is a bit weird. They are putting a guy in there that probably won't put his team in the playoffs.

He is 5 for me. I don’t think the Cavs are getting credit for what they’ve done this year. They’re a top 5 team and Mitchell has taken his game and his team to the next level. You have the ability to see what they were before Mitchell and what they are now and it’s light years different.

Now…you know I’m being honest here because I have often criticized his one way game and called him a volume shooter. This year he’s shown me that he can lead a good team as their Batman. I’ll eat my crow. I didn’t think Mitchell Garland pairing would work. I laughed at guys like @dtgold88 who had them as a top 4 seed in the East. I said that Mobley’s development would be slowed because of two ball dominant guards hogging the shots. Completely wrong by me on all accounts. He and Luka are my 1st team All NBA guards this year.

The problem with the MVP award is the word "valuable". Value is a subjective term that means different things to different people. There's the "what would their record be without that guy?" view, there's the "best player on the best team" view, there's the "who did the most with the least?" view, there's the "best player regardless of the teams record" view. Heck, if you look at production/importance relative to what they are being paid, guys like Evan Mobley on a rookie contract might have a case.

Ironically this makes Jokic easily more deserving this year than the prior 2

Honestly, I haven't cared about MVP voting for awhile now. Those Nash years killed it, a couple other years here and there. Lebron probably should have at least 2 more MVP's but it's been like this way before all this. Even in the 80's and 90's.

I agree if that was the standard set forth all game. The problem is that wasn’t a penalty for 58 minutes of the game. A more egregious one occurred involving the same two players earlier in the game at midfield and it wasn’t a call. The issue was the inconsistency.

Quick recap: has little to do with me saying the Eagles should have won that game.

Doesn't matter anyway, as they didn't.
