Only Curry continuing his great shooting tonight can save them

They gave up 40, 28, and 37 points the first 3 quarters LOL

To the 2nd highest scoring offense in the league. Those are huge numbers though.

See, that is just it though.

The volume matters. And it is the efficiency with which Jokic produces on such high volume that makes him special.
Nah, that’s overblown. Efficiency doesn’t explain putting a guy alongside Wilt Russell Bird. Disagree. He’s an elite PG and because he’s a 7ft center he scores highly in assist and rebound metrics and analytics go gaga over him. He’s a great player. A 3 time MVP for a guy who hasn’t won anything? Specious.

It would’ve happened before if we had these advanced analytics before

There is usually some decision Fatigue

But jokic analytics are just absurd

Embiid with 39 in only 3 quarters to destroy the TWolves on the road without Harden. I’m going ahead and mixing him to the top of my MVP ladder.
I still have Giannis. They haven’t been healthy as a group all year and he has really carried them at both ends. If the Sixers somehow get within a game or two of the Bucks and they beat the Bucks again In Milwaukee in April, if he looks good vs the Suns and Denver coming up on the road, then I’ll entertain it.

4-1 road trip though. I wanted them 2-1 at home out of the break and 3-2 on this road trip with 5 games in 7 days. Disappointed at home vs the Heat, but got back on track of expectation beating the Bucks.

I dont see how he doesn't
I think there is enough time for Embiid or Giannis to get there. A lot of people are looking for a reason not to do the same thing.

They’re really not. He plays a position that generates high rebound totals naturally. Couple that with the same player being the distributor for his team. He’s MVP 3 times because people are swooning over the novelty of that.

Now let’s talk context. There was a concerted effort voiced by voters at the time that Giannis shouldn’t be a three time MVP when he hadn’t won anything. When did that change? Is it because of the novelty? Is it the recent trend of analytics taking over sports? How does any of that change the role winning plays in saying a guy is MVP 3 years in a row with no championships?

Hush, I started the movement tonight by moving him to the top. Let it catch on.
Usually I would say that media is fickle but not on this one. Voters are obsessed with analytics and as Q pointed out, his metrics are absurd. He found the glitch in the game. Here’s what we will do. The 3rd MVP is a given. But when the Nuggets are out in round 1 or round 2 we will spend the entire off season mocking people who went crazy over his analytics. It will be fun to remind people that Billy Beane and his Money Ball model never won a World Series. Fuck. I don’t know if they ever even won a playoff series. You don’t Math your way to championships.

I do really enjoy Embiid going for a 26 minute 39 piece vs Captain Covid Le Super Spreader. When Embiid shows up, De Gaulle surrenders like a good little Frenchman. I kind of love that Embiid is flirting to play with France in international competition. He will forever be able to call that guy and let him know that if he wants it, Embiid can take his job with a phone call.
