Is there a valid reason why the All-Star break and trade deadline isn't earlier? I kept hearing "the midpoint of the season", which isn't even close lol.
It's way too late but I think the point is the President's weekend holiday...

Yeah, only because there are so few games left.

Just not enough time to realistically get out of the playin.

The one thing that I think gives them an outside chance is that I keep hearing that they have the 3rd or 4th easiest schedule over these last games. Theoretically, they should be able to close the season with more wins over the remaining games than several of the teams ahead of them, especially if they have Lebron and AD healthy and motivated.

I doubt they can do it, especially since they still have a bunch of guys who need to learn to play together, but it does give them an outside shot.

Are the Warriors winning the title this year? No they are not. Are the Lakers winning the title this year? No they are not.

Just that, doesn't really matter what happens the rest of the way in terms of titles. Be nice for either of our teams to finish strong but in the end, isn't it about titles in the window of our aging stars?

Talking about making the playoffs really, not winning a title.
Sure but to what end? That said I would prefer to watch LeBron make a playoff run even if it doesn't result in a title.

I wouldn't go as far as to blame Lebron. But when you're the best player in the league and you refuse to do what pretty much every other best player in the league has done...it makes it easier for other top players to opt out too.

It's like him being blamed for players trying to form super teams. The Heat weren't the first super team in league history, they were just the first one that appeared to be orchestrated by the players involved.

Lebron catches the blame from those looking to blame someone because he was the first.

I like this, very well put.
