The Scherzer market is accelerating. Apparently, we are players for both him and Bryant

See ya around Ramos, Bart, and Estrada...

Not saying I wouldn't but that's the price we're looking at
No way in hell will a rental net 2 blue chippers and a budding starting level player.

I can see Bart as the center piece, but no way will it be Bart AND Ramos. Maybe Bart and Estrada, but I also think that is WAY to expensive for a rental.

I tend to agree but Bart and Estrada for a legit World Series horse? Crawford coming back anyway...

Estes pimping hard for us to get Tyler's twin Taylor Rogers as a 9th inning guy. Opposite pitcher, throws lefty, 94-95 and a wipeout slider, big strikeout guy

As much as I like Rogers, I still say it makes more sense for them to both play for Minnesota.

Anyone notice the Mariners-Pirates trade that involved Tyler Anderson? The Giants non-tender him last offseason, he goes to the Pirates, pitches pretty much the same as he did in 2020 (except for fewer walks) and they trade him for prospects. I wonder if FZ could have landed the same deal last year, if he tried shipping him off during the 2020 trade deadline.

I tend to think if that were possible, FZ would have found a way to do it.

Possibly, but the Giants were playing hot (just like in 2019) at that time so I wouldn't be surprised that he held on to Anderson because of possible postseason aspirations.

Trying to figure out the Reds. They are trading for relievers. Are they buyers or sellers? I have to wonder if they are going to flip these guys, in hopes that their return is better than what they traded away for them.

Looks like Marte is coming to the Bay Area
The A's are sending Jesus Luzardo and getting Marte and cash from the Marlins. Very interesting. I don't know who would be comparable to Luzardo. He is young, just 23 years old but has gotten hit hard this year in the big leagues. Beede could be comparable, if he was younger and hadn't had TJ surgery last year. Makes me wonder if the Marlins would have sent Marte to the Giants for Beede, Kervin Castro and Sam Wolff. Maybe they feel that Luzardo is still a high end talent.

This is the type of return that reminds me that there is no way in hell it will cost Bart AND Ramos to land Scherzer. And even Bart alone is probably more than he would cost. Rentals just don’t cost what we couch-jockeys tend to think they cost.

Chapman for Torres is the unicorn that really doesn’t exist anymore.

Good point. Maybe Bart is enough for Scherzer then...and is that a good idea? We really need pitching.
