There was a quote Divish put up on Twitter that Dipoto said they are going to look outside the organization if Lewis isn’t able to make start opening day. I have no idea on the rationale of wasting money on a free agent at this point in the game if Lewis isn’t banged up enough to keep him out significant time.
Not sure if it is the same quote, but a few days back they said they were going to look for a waiver OF to add to opening day instead of going with one of the young guys. That had nothing to do with Lewis though. It was about LF option.

Yeah I don’t know the date. Divish put the quote you cited up then a bunch of people commented about Kelenic then he put that quote up. The comments were actually comical in a way.

This one I’m a little nervous about. He’s got the tools but just not sure he’s ready. Fastball command is spotty and he needs to progress his 3rd pitch more

i feel the mariners have 6 good out field guys at this point

Haniger.....we need..to see the' HOT " haniger.....just to know.that he can still do it

lewis.......has made the mlb lvl.but needs to stay away from that injury bug...and.needs ..to continue..to get better at hitting..cuz right now..i see him as a #5 or #6 hitter.which..he will prob always be..but still needs to get better

trammell......having a breakout..at mlb lvl ..right before our eyes...lol.im pulling for him

fraley.........he has had his probs adjusting to..mlb lvl..but..i think he is on the right track..now....and do not worrie..he has a couple more years left
with the mariners

kelenic..he is better than i thought...as a hitter.....i expect we will see him at some point..this year..at mlb...but the mariners are going through
a lot of personel...right now..and there are other probs with pitching..and SS/2b.....as far as the 40 man goes
i expect...kelenic...is a huge part..of the mariners future

julio rodriguez......he is done..with high A in my opinion.and i think he should start at AA .??...yeah i do...and think..he should be at..AAA by the end of the year..

i feel these are the guys...the mariners will go forward with...good luck to them

Since I’m a Mariners fan, I’d be lying if this wasn’t a concern for me. There’s a chance that knee could be a constant problem

I think Moore could ultimately be a solid utility player and would prefer he doesnt get exposed playing everyday. Long i have no idea if he can be anything based on what I saw last year.
the thing is.... the mariners think the same thing....prob
but........at the same time.....they need to see how he does every day...at 2B...(so that qustion will be answered)
and
while they are searching for the right 2B...for them...after cano...moore will do at 2b..and Lf...if needed..there

there are still question marks going forward..in the infield for the mariners..here are some..and the mariners solutions.. for now
(although france can play infield positions..and will...he is a DH...for sure)

3B seager.......seager is seager....and mariners are good with him goin forward...but...they do need a..future 3B

(this is where..i think long can fit in..he is a 2b who can hit...but is challenged at 2b..on defence...that cryes..3B...to me)
and go figure..seager...is vary simulor..but we will see on that..cuz the injury bug ..will put long starting at tacoma...which..is ok ..for now..until some other question marks..have been answered..if that gives the mariners..some depth..at 2b..that is a good thing..and it is only at a AAA..beginning mlb lvl

1B white....prob.........needs to hit better....solution....marmolejos...and france

ss crawford...prob...needs to hit better....solution....haggerty..could be a solution...but..he is having his own hitting troubles right now
and the only thing keeping him hanging on is he is a rabbit ..on the bases..and he can play every position on defence..which..while moore is doeing 2B..the mariners can use..as utility

a possable solution ...through..spring was ......jack reinheimer...he can hit better..than the other SS..guys....and is solid on defence
but finding a spot on the 40 man for him is..a prob

i have not..herd..anything about....... reinheimer.....on mariners web site or rosters...that is to bad..at least they should offer him a miners league contract..oh well

2B..moore..for now..prob...he is the mariners utility player...lol...yeah......solution....haggerty....long...maybe..reinheimer..and
donnie walton at tacoma..donnie at ss as well

all that said..mariners have infield issues...yep..lol

agreed...
and if continued..could put lewis in LF...in the future..but..he is the CF...for now
but the question.is..can he run and jump...without getting injured
but again..it happens to a lot of pro athletes...

cuz they..... have to need to...play at a high lvl

Good for him. Nice when a young guy who wasn’t supposed to make it, earns it
Did you really not think he was going to make it though? When the whole Kelenic stuff was going down Jerry and Scott both were talking about Trammell like he was the best player in camp. But he needed to make the team to see what he can do for the club because they have to see from him if Kelenic or JRod are tradable for an ace.

I think he was the better of the two choices based on him being RH versus anything else. I agree he needs to both find a 3rd pitch and also get out of his own head the second time through the lineup. With his arm this year, he needs only to locate his pitches and not worry about out guessing the hitters. I know he is buddies with Pedro which is great, but maybe a talk or two with Greg Maddux would help his mental side.

i dont think the outfield will be as much a prob as these guys do...for me it is simple
Seattle's outfield options after Lewis' injury

trammell in CF
fraley in LF
haniger in Rf
or
marmolejos..moore or haggerty in Lf
trammell in CF
fraley in RF

they need to keep evaluating...trammell and fraley..anyway...and haggerty as well...so no prob..do it now..until lewis comes back

i dont have any doubt dunn will start either...but ya never know it could change later..to margavicius..or newsome

left field is no longer..the question ..that it was..in the off season..with trammell making it..and kelenic..pushing him..it could not be better..for the mariners
catcher..seems set for the future at this point..as well..but when cal raleigh..is ready..the mariners should have 3 good catchers
2B is the big question..at this point
rotation
and bull pen
