The Brooklyn and Philly games. If i remember correctly they played 4 straight or 4 out of 6 vs Brooklyn and Philly in January when he had covid

The Heat are a 6 seed and had the 10th best defensive team by net rating. Bam is an exceptionally good defensive player but I don't think the Heat have played well enough to warrant a DPOY for Bam.

Lol this argument is horrible. Dpoy was never a team award. Team records never mattered when it came to this award. He was robbed. Simple as that

I really hope he's beats it back. One of my favorite hoops guys and 33 is way too young to be taken by cancer.

The Heat are not an elite defensive team because they have multiple players like Herro and Robinson who are terrible defenders.

I wasn't blaming Bam. I was pointing out why he wasn't a finalist for DPOY.

I could make an equally strong case that neither Embiid or Simmons deserve it because they each make the other’s job a lot easier.

Bam is as deserving as anyone. Not only to be a finalist, but to win.

That's all well and good. Maybe Bam is the best defensive player in the NBA. But the reason why he wasn't nominated for DPOY is because the Heat defense wasn't very good and the Heat were a 6 seed.

Nobody watches every game. Not us. Not the voters. So these awards are often driven by the buzz about a player.

Rudy Gobert is going to win the award again. I'm unconvinced that he deserves it because Rudy does not dominate other effective bigs. He's fantastic at providing help to the rest of the defense. But, to me, an elite defensive big should be able to defend against other good bigs.
