AD's injury is a little similar to KD's.....can the Lakers make it out of the WC without him?

Drummond would be the #2 option and Schroder the #3 without AD.....IDK.
I personally think no they can’t make it out of the west without Davis. It’s going to be tough with him at this point.

I don't think he's a bad coach and the Lakers had a few coaches that would have me longing for Doc.

I just don't see him as underrated. He got expected results with 1 team, badly underachieved every season except 1 with his 2nd team and now has a team that, so far, is playing well in his first season.
He's not a bad coach, or even an average coach. He's a good coach who's not really considered that, which is why he's underrated IMO

No way to prove it, but my guess is more consider him a good or even great coach than those who think not good.

Not two years ago it wasn't.

No but he was there for 7 years and never got to the conference finals despite having some pretty darn good teams.

Now don't get me wrong. My view on NBA coaches is very similar to my view on most coaches outside of American football. A great coach won't make a team a lot better but a bad coach will make a team a lot worse.

A great coach could turn a 55 win team into a 57 win team. He could make the difference in a game 7. But he's not making an average team good or a good team great.

So I think that what Doc is doing is part him being a good coach and part Brett not being a good coach.

Rivers is just another coach to me, he has a chance to move up this year though.

He did imply if not due to a death there is no reason to miss those games. So there's that.
Well as of right now the family medical leave act does not cover birthdays, nothing would surprise me at this point though.

I think that coming out of Boston, the media played him up as a great coach. When he went to the Clippers, with the Lakers down and the talent the Clippers had, he was going to be the one to lead their "takeover of LA".

Instead, they badly underachieved and never got out of the 2nd round. So his reputation took a beating.

I think folks overreacted to both the job he did in Boston and the job he did with the Clips.

To me, he's basically an average to above average coach who had a couple of seasons where he did a really good job mixed in. How he does in the playoffs with the Sixers will go a long way in determining how he's ultimately viewed.

so different standard if player plays for your team? Death not required?

Did Jimmy take personal time 3 different times? Apple and Oranges. So no not different standards. Did Jimmy take off to celebrate a birthday or a birth of child? You're sounding like wiggy.

It is known that kyrie took his first 2 personal time to celebrate birthdays but yeah let's criticize jimmy for wanting to be there for the birth of his first child

It's funny to look back at the "take-over of LA" and see how many ex Lakers and Lakers missed FA targets they continue to build that team with.

He's a good to very good coach IMO. Last year was a tough situation to use to judge your head coach.

He's got a ring, so that cinches it for many.
Yep. also has to do with the perception one has before winning the ring. as many seem to think Lue cannot coach and a ring didn't change this. Never mind Rivers won his title with a favorite and Lue with the underdog.

Kyrie took some me time in early January to clear his head. While he was away from the team he violated league virus protocols by going out and about without a mask. Don't recall Jimmy ever doing something like that.

"You're sounding like wiggy"

:laugh3:
