Would you give up Larry Nance in a trade for John Collins?

Obviously, Collins is the better player but that isn’t the dilemma here. I’m not sure who else would be involved but Collins is probably wanting max or near max so around $30M. That is a lot.

Obviously you trade Drummond or let him walk at the end of the season but then Kevin Love is the obstacle. If you do trade for Collins, you can’t be paying two PF’s $60M total.

But it is intriguing with a lineup of:

Garland
Sexton
Okoro
Collins
Allen

Porter Jr
Osman
Windler
Prince
yah

Nance is under contract for like 10M a year for 3 more years after this one. He can play defense.

Collins is better- but his defense is bad, and he will get prob. 30M a year like you said. He is a bad fit with Kevin Love

A big man rotation of Love, Nance, Allen is preetty interesting.....paying Love and Collins a combined 60 million seems prohibitive as well.

Allen by himself is going to get 20M a year probably.--- or something close to that. and they wouldnt have traded for him if they did not intend to sign him up.

McGee will be dealt probably pretty soon. Drummond may get dealt if they feel they get good value for him.

A contender that needs a big man could really get a big boost from Drummond and not have to take on a long term financial commitment- and they would sitll have Drummond's Bird Rights.

Collins is a nice young player and I thought the Hawks offer was fair for him. I don’t see him as a $30M player. Nance is on a great deal and he can be a key role player

The Pacers have a squad, think they may be flying under the radar in the EC.

And LeVert is a solid replacement for Oladipo and possibly an upgrade on a better contract.
plus he is healthy and he will not be a distraction which Oladipo and his contract were always probably going to be.

Warren is sitll going to be out for a good long while, but when he gets back the Pacers are a legit team that go deep on quality palyers.

Warren should be back by the tail end of the season to get back in shape for the playoffs.

Maybe but if they get back Warren....and with the addition of LeVert I think they can be a sleeper.....not saying they'll get to the Finals but they could be a really tough out and push a team that is better than them to 7 games.

I def see them getting to the EC semis and won't be surprised if they make it to the ECF.

You think they are better than at least one of Celtics, Bucks, Heat, Sixers?

I could see them beating the Heat if they are matched up 4 vs 5.

The other teams plus the Nets IDK. That's why I said they could be a sleeper.

i think they are pretty close to the Celtics and Heat- if not right there.

Nets
Sixers
Bucks

Celtics
Pacers

That's fair. I think they could surprise a team in the 1st round. I think it would be very surprising if they could get a 2nd round win though.

If it goes total cluster ruck in Brooklyn.....I could see them beating the Nets, especially if Irving isn't there and they don't add some depth with buyouts and such after the deadline.

IF, IF, IF it goes sideways in Brooklyn.

This season could be an adjustment season for the Nets, like the Clippers last season.

Next season could be when the Nets are REALLY dangerous.....full offseason to restock that bench and such. So other teams in the EC may want to take advantage of it.

The Nets have 2 mid level exemptions....they need to use those.

PF and C. Maybe JaVale McGee if he gets released, they have a ton of big men now.

They didn't improve their team that much and they haven't shown that they've addressed the issues with how they're defended in the playoffs.

So, as @bksballer89 and @DJ said...yes.

They've improved enough though to be better because the level of play they were at, it doesn't take a big leap to get over the hump. The Nets already had some defensive questions and now they've dramatically altered their team and will have to hope it all coalesces quickly. And that's assuming Kyrie gets his shit together (which isn't a given at all). They SHOULD be the best on paper but its gonna take time for the chemistry to get right and it might not happen in time for this season. And the Sixers are in the same spot the Bucks are. They both improved their teams and both have similar issues in the playoffs. But Giannis is the better player. Usually in the NBA, the team with the best player in close match ups wins.

they turned guys/depth they couldn’t afford plus picks into harden.

they will need to use their exception to add a key guy in the buyout market.

plus add Shabazz Napier lol

they can only use one as they are over the apron so they can’t use the bi annual exception
