here is an example..

Mitch Haniger 17....(sorry mitch..to use as an example..)

31
RFArb 33$8,500,000-$8,500,000$8,500,00011.918,500,000

while mitch..will be free agent next year...this years arb...should be...80 pct...next years..90 pct...by mitches stats...is a top..RF player

so we take harper..at 27....and hayward at24...and say ..mitches value is 25......now....80 pct..of 25..is 20 mil...which...haniger did not make..

and not only...that...he did not make even 1/2...that.....that..is what they ...have an issue with....arb...is not fair...and now..we can see..

players are gitting paid less than...1/2..of what they are..worth.....

all you guys....just go work at mcdonalds,...after collage....yeah......how does it feel..................

and if the players get..what..they want..it will still knock..off like 10..to 15 pct..of the highest paid payers...and prob 20 pct..to lower..
market value...cuz base...will rise...and arb..will at least double...............

and doubling arb...will..make it...so..the players...will want no...lux tax..and at least...
the owners to take 38..pct...and that will be to start....

dont expect.....a deal...anytime soon.......................

time for owners...to find...some grayhounds...who work ...for food.....and love...

meanwhile...the players...will..be...at McDonalds..................

A Trade Target for the Mariners From Each N.L. West Team

San Francisco Giants Steven Duggar

Steven Duggar is certainly not the hottest name on the market, but he does present the Mariners with an intriguing center field option. He is a 28 year old with three more years of club control after seemingly falling out of favor with the Giants. He was absent from most of their playoff and second-half run. He certainly would fit in Seattle as at least a part-time player who could benefit from more playing time.

The Mariners clearly need a center fielder, and Duggar could be an option to fill that spot. He is a very good defender according to advanced metrics such as Outs Above Average and Outfielder Jumps. He also is very fast, which would be another boost for him in a Mariners uniform. He has posted some pretty average numbers last year, but was worth 2 Wins Above Replacement. He slashed .257/.330/.437 last year, which is pretty good, but not elite.

A trade package for Duggar could be a fairly simple one if the two sides can get a player that fits their needs the best. The Mariners could certainly trade a pitcher to the Giants for Duggar, and a deal could look like this.
https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.fansided.com%2Flogos%2Fmlb%2Fmariners.png

MARINERS GET
OF STEVEN DUGGAR

https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.fansided.com%2Flogos%2Fmlb%2Fgiants.png

GIANTS GET
RHP YOHAN RAMIREZ
The Giants certainly could benefit from another bullpen arm, and Yohan Ramirez offers them that. The Mariners also should be comfortable with dealing him for three years of good center field play. If Duggar plays about 120 games in center field next year, and then becomes the 4th outfielder if younger players emerge, then that is great. Duggar as a fourth outfielder would be great for the Mariners.
The Giants would be excited to put Ramirez in their bullpen to go along with young flame thrower Camilo Doval and Jake McGee. That would bolster the back end of their bullpen for competing for another division title with the Dodgers in 2022. The deal really benefits both sides, since they are dealing from areas of surplus for areas of lesser strength. Both players have shown flashes and been up and down from the minors, but aren’t key pieces to either organization.

mariners may accually go for this one ....

where the other ones...no...no..no.andNo
lewis they not trade..or dunn...ya need to go home...and re-think..your life

Looking At Why the Mariners Will NOT Trade Mitch Haniger

by Curtis Christianson1 day ago Follow @CurtisCBaseball

The Seattle Mariners made one of their biggest trades in recent memory when they acquired Mitch Haniger in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks back in 2016. He has been one of the best players for the Mariners, but he has also had some big injuries that hurt his value. He missed lots of time with his injuries, but he came back last year and was one of the club’s best hitters. Some think he could be on the move, but the slugger is going to be sticking around this year.

Sponsored
Mitch Haniger was great in 2018, having a 4.5 WAR season and he made the All-Star team. He then started off pretty well in 2019, but his season was derailed when he ruptured his testicle early in the summer. He then did not play again until he made an appearance until opening day 2021. He returned to form, having an incredible season, not just for someone coming off of that injury, but for anyone.

Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger isn’t going anywhere

Haniger matched a career-high in games played last year at 157, hit a career-high 39 home runs, scored a career-high 110 runs, and drove in a career-high 100 runs. He returned to form for a Mariners team that won 90 games, and he was one of the most important pieces for them last year. He is going into his last year before free agency and is virtually untouchable.
The folks over at Rox Pile wrote about Mitch Haniger being a possible trade target for the Rockies, but Haniger is not going to be going anywhere. The Mariners are not trying to rebuild, they have already rebuilt their roster, and they’re ready to win. Trading Haniger does the opposite for the Mariners.

They need their right fielder who was maybe their best hitter last year to stick around for them.
Not only is he a leader in offensive production, but he is a leader in the clubhouse, as he showed after his Players Tribune article. He is going to be hitting in the heart of the order for Seattle next year and is too valuable to be traded. Haniger will be a key piece to the Mariners quest to end their playoff drought. Without him, they do not have much of a chance. Even though some think that he could be on the move, he does not have value worth a trade away from Seattle.

diagree on hanigers value...the fact is you say that cuz...he is not gitting traded..when..all other 29 teams..would be happy to have him..

Mitch Haniger is 31 years old, and will be a free agent after this year. He will not carry enough value for the Mariners to get a valuable contributor for them if they trade him.

again..disagree.....

They would not be able to trade him for a starting pitcher to fill out the Seattle rotation, or any other valuable regular contributor. This means that they will not trade him because the value of having Haniger in the lineup every day is much higher than anything they would trade him for.

this is probable....but not...his value..the way...you see it.........

There is only one possible scenario where the Mariners trade Haniger, and that is only if the Mariners fall out of contention early and have a terrible season. They would have to be so far out of contention in July for Jerry Dipoto to move him for a small prospect package. The Mariners almost certainly will not be a bad team, and if there are expanded playoffs, they definitely will not move on from Haniger unless they are absolutely blown away by an offer.
NEXT:12 Days of Mariners-mas: #1 Is “The Kid” Ken Griffey Jr.
Mitch Haniger presents too much value for the Mariners to trade for the little that they would get in return. A low minors prospect is not what the M’s need, they need the 39 home runs, 100 RBI, 110 runs, and nearly 3 WAR production from Haniger. The Mariners need to keep around their right-handed slugger, clubhouse leader, and veteran in their lineup if they want to break the playoff drought in Seattle. He is simply too valuable to Seattle to lose him in a trade.

agreed..on the last...all but the low...minor...leaguer...part.....

and the reason...the mariners will..not trade...kyle lewis...

see the look..on the dodger guys face...when lewis..sprints and catches....that is why....the guy did not believe..what he saw..

and if there...is any..chance..the mariners could get him back ...in CF...they have to take it..he is potentily..the best CFer..in baseball

and that is why....all those people...want to trade for him....and give the mariners.....nothing in re-turn...

I don’t know Raleigh’s AA numbers but I had low expectations for him going into AAA and he really improved at the plate. I don’t necessarily expect him to not improve going into the season I just have zero faith in Murphy and I don’t think it is reasonable to expect Raleigh to catch 140 plus games.

We have talked the Marco deal to death. No one will ever be able to convince Jerry couldn’t gotten Marco for less than O’Neill.

I think it is an easy Haniger over Lewis but it is hard to deal a former ROY (even if it has an asterisk) when he is at his rock bottom level. No idea what they could get back for him. But Divish hasn’t said it but has heavily insinuated that there is an issue with Lewis not trusting the Mariners training/medical staff. So that is something to keep an eye on.

I don’t mind Story but totally understand being hesitant especially depending on the salary. But that is kind of the risk Jerry took when he circled this off-season to “spend”.
Regarding Lewis, I was reading Divish's article on Seattle Times and he mentioned this, which doesn't sound promising:

"The status of Lewis’ knee is unknown. He’s declined all media inquiries. The Mariners won’t discuss timetables or report on his progress this offseason. President of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto has said multiple times that they won’t know until Lewis shows up to spring training. When healthy, Lewis has game-changing potential at the plate. A move to left field for a few games a week and DH the other games would hopefully reduce wear and tear on the knee."

Here is a hypothetical for you; would you give 6 years 126m ($21m a year) for a 29 year old second baseman with top-10 defense and this stat line:

.241/.310/.442/.752 (BA/OBP/SLG/OPS), 28 HRs, 75 RBIs, 35 doubles and 25 SBs

That's the projected contract per MLBTR for Trevor Story and his away stats prorated over a 162 game season. If the answer is yes, then fair enough. I just feel like that's a lot to pay for a guy who has had numerous injury issues, boosted his stats playing in Coors Field and will be on the wrong side of 30 for most of his contract.

The Kyle Lewis thing is very very strange. It’s not like he had surgery the day before the work stoppage so there is a timetable. It isn’t trying to keep his trade value high because teams have to have access to players medical charts or a physical before a trade can happen. It just seems there is a fracture there somewhere, whether it be Lewis not trusting them after his rehabs from past surgeries or Jerry and Co not trusting Lewis with his rehab.

With Story, if he is asking 6 at $21 million, I’d offer 3 years at $26-28 million with a player option or options for say $30-35 million. No idea if he and his agent would do it but IMO over spend to lower the years but also incentivize good production. 3B is a crossroads for Jerry where he either has to over spend on a FA or probably over pay with prospects for a 3B.
