Setup . The Orioles didn't have another pick . Just another way to cheat the rules .
How does that work? They setup the Mariners to pick someone from their own farm, then trade cash considerations for him?

No Mariners got him from Mets who then traded him to Orioles. Weird and not sure why do it for a few thousand in a game owned by Billionaires and played by millionaires.

Flexen has a $4 million option for 2023. He'll likely be around.
that is good....and i think...the team isgood with flex as well....but they going to have to pay him after that...at least 17...

Mea Culpa. I don't know how I got that idea. I gave up drinking two months ago and this lockout is driving me crazy.

Apologies to Srf1957 too.

One of the sports writers sent out a tweet that said from Orioles to Orioles on it. You weren't seeing things...lol.

If you pay Bryant, then Cruz would be a cheaper add. Yes Nelson. Nelson Cruz.
It's not an idea that has been floated and adding Cruz would mean we wouldn't be able to DH Kyle Lewis but part of me really loves the idea. He didn't hit particularly well for the Rays, but who cares.

My only reservation is that I love Nelson Cruz so much I'd be extremely sad if he doesn't continue to defy his age.

Lewis is the prime example to why I believe you never save a spot for a young guy. Let him beat somebody out for it because regression and injuries are real. Studs will always find a place to play and teams will always find a place to play them.

I know I've said this before, but I'd prefer if Dipoto proceed this offseason assuming that Lewis won't be available and if he is that's an added bonus.

I say this primarily because I believe his knee issues to be chronic, unfortunately. I think he has had 3 different knee injuries, if not more already and he's only 26. My perception on this is slightly skewed by the fact that one of my friends comes from a highly athletic family and her brother was a projected as a first round pick in the MLB draft but fell to like the 14th round because of his elbow issues and gave up his minor league career because of various injuries. She has also had numerous sports injuries over the years herself.

Point I'm trying to get at here is sometimes talented athletes have injuries that they can't overcome for various reasons that are outside their control. Unfortunately I worry that Kyle Lewis falls into that category.

A name that was brought up by Corey Brock of The Athletic was Michael Conforto. What do you guys think of that? Former All-Star, went to Redmond HS, played for Oregon State, I'd imagine he'd be open to coming back home to play in front of his family.

My new ideal offseason:
- Trade Kelenic for Bryan Reynolds
- Sign Michael Conforto
- Sign Kris Bryant
- Trade for Sonny Gray
- Sign Nelson Cruz (just because it makes this thought experiment more fun)

This is the team we'd have:
C: Raleigh/Murphy
1B: Ty France
2B: Adam Frazier
SS: J.P. Crawford
3B: Kris Bryant
RF: Mitch Haniger
CF: Bryan Reynolds
LF: Michael Conforto
DH: Nelson Cruz

SP: Robbie Ray
SP: Sonny Gray
SP: Marco Gonzales
SP: Chris Flexen
SP: Logan Gilbert

I think that would be a pretty good team.

edgar..was a DH cuz he had injury..issues...............lewis can DH..for a year or 2..and streangthen..those..knees...its ok..mariners need a DH..as well..
do they need a CF......
seems so....
unless....julio rod..can do it...
or trammell...hits better..this year...he has to be working on it....even..if they traded..him....it would be the same....he needs to cut down on strikes..
and hit for a better ave......heck..trammell..is still a good prospect...CF...last year was his 1st..at mlb..or AAA....heck..he did well.....

more...likely....reynolds ends up...in tampa....
bryant..still a maybe...???
sonny gray.....naaaa
dunn..and /or williamson....jedi....wants....to...make the connection......and he should...flex can do it...for #2..it is my belief..gilbert..will soon be under..
a 4.00..era...dunn already...is..so..idk..why...people do not see he is good....

conforto...i guess is still a maybe as well...that would cover seager.....and frazier..and..ray..and lewis..woud put them over..the top...
but a trade for naquin...fits better...a L/L..CF....
you could add..both..and bryant...would be ok...
