  • TREVOR STORYSS, COLORADO ROCKIES
    Trevor Story

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that the Rockies "would like to bring back" free agent shortstop Trevor Story.

We're not sure what the Rockies are doing either. That being said, it's not crazy to think they want him back, but it's just a matter of whether they are willing to compete with the other teams out there. Story has most recently been linked to the Rangers, even after the reported addition of Marcus Semien.

  • YUSEI KIKUCHISP, SEATTLE MARINERS

Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports that free agent left-hander Yusei Kikuchi is a possibility for the Mets.

The Mets have reportedly signed Max Scherzer to a record three-year, $130 million contract, but they aren't done looking to add to their rotation. At this point, though, it's safe to assume that Marcus Stroman won't be returning. Kikuchi would be a bit of a project after 4.41 ERA over 29 starts, but his outstanding first half showed his upside.

  • ROBBIE RAYSP, TORONTO BLUE JAYS

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Mariners are finalizing a five-year, $115 million contract with free agent left-hander Robbie Ray.

The free agent dominoes continue to fall. The deal, which was first reported by Michael Mayer of Metsmerized, reportedly includes an opt-out after the third season. Ray declined a qualifying offer from the Blue Jays, so the Mariners will give up a draft pick in order to sign him. Still, the southpaw will add some legitimacy to a rotation which needs it. Ray won the AL Cy Young Award this season on the strength of a 2.84 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 248/53 K/BB ratio across 193 1/3 innings (32 starts). He managed to just barely beat out Kevin Gausman's contract ($110 million), but the qualifying offer probably had something to do with that.
