ft pick in order to sign him. Still, the southpaw will add some legitimacy to a rotation which needs it. Ray won the AL Cy Young Award this season on the strength of a 2.84 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 248/53 K/BB ratio across 193 1/3 innings (32 starts). He managed to just barely beat out Kevin Gausman's contract ($110 million), but the qualifying offer probably had something to do with that.

need a comp bal...pick..

Robbie Ray! Wow.. okay, I'm down for that. Something to know about this signing though. The M's would lose a pretty high draft pick. But that's okay.

The Rangers are also making some splashy moves this offseason. Just signed Corey Seager to a 10 year 325mil contract.

In a deep prep pitching class, Ritchie stands out for a loud package of both pure stuff and control/command. The 2022 prep pitching class has more guys touching 97 at 17 years old than maybe any other class in history. But not all of them can find the strike zone with consistency. That is where Ritchie thrives. The fastball sits 92-95 on most days, up to 97. He has a firm, tight slider up into the mid-80s with late two-plane break that he also commands very well. He also built a deeper, high-70s curveball into his arsenal with distinct vertical movement and significant spin rates. Jordan Lawlar called his breaking ball the best pitch he saw all summer in 2021. Ritchie also features a changeup he's shown feel for with good arm-side fade that he deploys primarily against lefties. Finally, he's working to mix in a low-90s 2-seam fastball, deployed away from righty bats. Ritchie has an extremely quick arm with elite mechanics and lower half strength. He's a very good bet to start long-term, and has the potential to be the best prep arm to come out of Washington since Blake Snell or Tim Lincecum.

That is a big fat no thank you. 5 years is too much for a pitcher like him.
So how do you feel about the Ray deal which is for about $5M more?

They have so many holes though and Seager plays about 60% of the games and Semien played in a minor league park for most of the season. Of course if they signed here I would have a different opinion on both...lol.

Reigning Cy Young for 5mil more over Gausman? I think I like it.
Gausman actually had the better year if you look at it. Kind of surprised me. But I like Ray's potential better at being an Ace.

Gausman is slightly better but who's to say the M's didn't offer the Ray money to him but he turned it down to go to the Jays.

I'd probably pick Gausman over Ray by just a small margin but I'm fine with paying Ray 5mil more.

The thought of the M's possibly bringing back Taylor is cringing me a little. Just say no to him please. Still way too inconsistent.

Reminds me when the Rangers signed AFraud. But I am guessing all those championship were worth it...
One strike away ya that sucked. Back to back AL Championships was fun. You can relate to that can’t ya?

How big is that AL Championship trophy? LOL. I am not anti-Rangers just anti-AFraud. Nolan Ryan is still one of my Top 5 All-Time Players.
