I have 13 bottles of prescription meds in my cabinet and I don't have a single script for any of them.

Did he have meds that belonged to someone else? I do know that in some states, it's illegal to have prescription meds that are not in the issued bottle or prescription meds issued to someone else if they are an upper, downer or opiate.

I think in most or all states it's unlawful to have scripts with no name on them or that do not belong to you.

In some states you can't even transport drugs from the pharmacy to grandma's without some kind of permit. It's a federal crime to have prescription meds in anything but the original container, but it's rarely enforced. I take 500 mg Naproxen with me everywhere but it's never in the original container because I don't want to carry 100 pills and certainly don't want some druggie to whack me over the head for pain meds.

Word out is that the patriots will not wait until March 18th to start or finish with Tom Brady. According to Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston, the Patriots will have said good bye or welcome back by March 10th at the very latest. Johnathan Kraft apparently said that the patriots have set their deadline to have everything on the table between 2/10 and 3/10.

I don't know if that's good or bad news. It almost sounds to me, like their saying "So long, Tom".

Not at this point.
They have the option to negotiate with Tom while other teams do not.
They hope to have that negotiation done by 3/10.

I don't think that BB wants him back at the cost. They're on the hook for $13.5M and I can't see BB adding anything more to that at the cost of losing other pieces that will help repair this team.

You can love the guy and everything he's done, but common sense says that there comes a time when the cost and what it will cost may just be too much.

After all is said and done, it appears that the Patriots will about $28M of free money under the cap. Considering what they need to do, that's not a lot of money.

The 13.5 is not relevant. He already earned it. If you sign someone else you can't ask them to take 13.5 less this year because the team is already paying that to someone else, but that's part of this year's "budget".

Please tell that to the NFL and maybe they'll remove it from the cap for 2020. Yes it was paid to Brady already and now the team is paying for it. This is the price that every team pays for 'restructuring' a contract. You get a little space at the time to do something but eventually, the bill comes due and must be paid. Because of the way that this contract had been structured, this $13.5M could never be spread again even if the old contract was restructured again. It's very relevant, just like AB's $8.5M and all of the other dead money. It's the old, "I'll pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today."

Think carefully, other than two years ago when BB signed Gilmore, when has this team had alot of cap room to really get involved in the free-agent market? They've managed the cap well, ut have always been up against it. It's the price of having a Dynasty Now, the foundation is showing signs wear and tear and there isn't much money to fix all of the damage. The car needs brakes and a new transmission, the hot water tank leaks, the refrigerator compressor is shot and TV color is gone. What's most important to fix if you've only got $5000 in the bank? It has to be the car because without it you can't get back and forth to work to earn money to fix other things and replace the $5000 you just took out of the bank.

It's all about making the best decision at the time that the decision must be made. You know that eventually, it will all have to be dealt with. You just hope that it's just brake pads and a gear adjustment.

Looking at the Patriots coaches who are due a promotion in 2020

The New England Patriots seem to have seen the end of their coaching turnover following the 2019 season. They lost special teams coordinator and receivers coach Joe Judge to the New York Giants, who made him their next head coach. Judge then hired Patriots defensive line coach Bret Bielema.

Because Judge was doing two jobs for the Patriots, that leaves three vacancies on staff. Considering the Patriots never named a defensive coordinator in 2019, they could also fill that role in 2020. Here are a few coaches on staff who could get promotions from Bill Belichick.

Steve Belichick, assistant: The safeties coach clearly earned more responsibilities in 2019 as the apparent defensive play-caller. Players also said the cornerbacks and safeties were meeting together more often in 2019, which meant that Belichick was serving as a secondary coach. It seems Belichick did a nice job this season with one of the NFL’s best defenses. He may be due for the defensive coordinator title.

Cam Achord, assistant: When special teams coordinator Joe Judge took on additional work as the receivers coach in 2019, he leaned heavily upon Achord. And the special teams unit was sensational, with big plays on blocks and fumble recoveries. Achord may step into the coordinator role that Judge vacated when he took the head coaching job with the New York Giants.

Troy Brown, assistant: Similarly with Achord on special teams, Brown was assisting Judge with the the receivers. So again, Brown could elevate to a bigger role. He certainly has an understanding of the offense, with his knowledge as a player from the early 2000s and his recent understanding from 2019. Perhaps Brown, who told ESPN he loved his rookie year as a coach, will get the receivers positional coach opening.

Nick Caserio, director of player personnel: Here’s a tricky one. Caserio does it all for the Patriots. He helps with coaching. And he runs the entire scouting department (pro and college). Belichick relies upon Caserio’s hard work as Belichick makes decisions about additions and subtractions from the roster. But Caserio doesn’t have final say, so far as we know. Perhaps he has earned a bigger say on personnel decisions after another impressive season.

Jerod Mayo/DeMarcus Covington, assistants: They split the linebacker position this season, with Mayo taking inside linebackers and Covington working with the outside linebackers. Perhaps Mayo will take on the whole linebacker position in 2019 while Covington moves to the defensive line.

Brian Belichick, assistant: He’s in his fourth year on staff, with work in the scouting and coaching departments. Steve touted his brother’s cerebral approach to the game. Other than that, we have no true barometer of the quality of his work. But his tenure in the organization typically lends itself to a positional group. Perhaps he’ll get one in 2020.

I don't disagree with any of this, but none of this has anything to do with my comment. The $13.5m is not relevant. While yes, it's part of the cap for this year, it's already spent and is not coming back. Go into more details about why it's there, but it ain't coming back. Talk about how well the team has done avoiding such situations, but it ain't coming back.

The money is gone, counts toward the cap and more money needs to be spent for a 2020 QB. Whether it's Brady or not, it NEEDS to be spent.

13.5 mil or not. None of it matters if he doesn't get the recievers he wants. I don't see that scenario playing out like it used to. Too many other key holes to fill.

I'd rather have Stidham behind a more solid OL. Spend the money on the core and the QB can be middle of the road, but the team will win. Spend the money on Brady or any other quarterback and have a piecemeal OL, the year is a waste and it might destroy that expensive QB. The team goes nowhere unless the OL is solidified.

Saints ran into this problem a few years back with their contract designs for Drew Brees. They finally just had to have a season where they let all the dead money hit and know they would struggle to compete. Not saying the Patriots can't compete as really $13.5 million isn't the end all be all of designing a roster, but definitely something that will make them have to work around it. I can't say much since the Broncos are carrying a decent dead money hit for Joe Flacco this year. Helps though that most likely they have found their guy in Drew Lock so dampens the blow a bit.

This is it right here. I mentioned in an earlier post the Pats are now officially in rebuild mode. In the past they have been able to add depth or build on the fly. But with limited cap space, and aging QB. a weak Oline, WR group and TE group this needs to be a two or three year plan. Fans need to accept we may not win the AFCE next year, we may go 8 and 8 but we need to think about the future and that cannot be with TB12.

But with limited cap space, and aging QB. a weak Oline, WR group and TE group this needs to be a two or three year plan. Fans need to accept we may not win the AFCE next year, we may go 8 and 8 but we need to think about the future and that cannot be with TB12.

That is always a tough transition. I can speak from experience now having watched it with John Elway and Peyton Manning. It really is for the betterment of the team to just pull the band aid instead of continuing to hold onto what used to be. Broncos tried that especially after Peyton of thinking the rest of the roster was good enough to compete again with just an average QB. Well they couldn't find even an average QB and just kept throwing money in aggressive moves and well it led to the team being where it is. The past two years they have finally committed to getting younger and hitting the reset button. Saw improvement this year with one of the youngest rosters in football and the hope is with lots of cap space this year and quite a bit of draft ammo they can finally get things back on track.
