I disagree TJF12. I think Pelinka and company are trying to gather cap space in a creative approach as it is going to decrease in the next cap cycle and I think Pelinka really wants to remove this albatross that continues to hang around the Lakers neck for a guy that played all of what 3 games. I also think, the Lakers are using their Championship clout to see if Silverman will budge and consider dismissing the remainder of their obligation. I am pretty sure Pelinka and to some extent Jeannie Buss, don't give a damn what Gilbert and Cuban think.
I know why they're doing it and I like that they are trying. You don't know if you don't ask. I just think that the best they can hope for is the league allowing them to defer the cap hold for a season or 2 because of the unique situation. I doubt they'll even allow that. I just think it's more likely than them just canceling it.
It doesn't matter if Pelinka or Jeanie give a damn what Gilbert or Cuban think. The league would at least listen. Just like they did when the Lakers tried to trade for CP3. I'm not saying their crying made the difference in that trade being vetoed or not, but they darn sure didn't help.
I hope you're right. I'd love to be wrong. But I wouldn't hold my breath.
