Depends. He's running out of options. If no one looks to sign him, the Lakers may be able to get him with what they have left to spend.

I don't think that's going to happen, I think someone will offer him more than the Lakers can. Heck, someone may do it just to keep him away from the Lakers. lol
This is probably closer to reality but I wouldn't count out the combination of factors that Whiteside may consider to sign with the Lakers that may involve more than money. Just as in the Harrell case, Harrell told the sports world he could have gotten more money than either the Clips or the Lakers offered (even though the Lakers offer was considerably less than the Clips) but he chose to sign with the Lakers because he can stay in LA, the Lakers wanted him more than the Clips, and he thinks the Lakers have a pretty good chance to win another ring this coming season. That and the sixth Man of The Year award winner likes the idea of winning a championship with both LeBron and AD. So, if Whiteside gets little or no offers, he may take the same route of reasoning as Harrell and sign with the Lakers who have expressed interest in Whiteside. It ain't over until its over.

it was always going to be tough to convince him to play on the RFA tender this year - and wait - then just give him the deal. It takes a huge chunk out of their cap space doing it this way, but it would have been tough expecting him to wait until next year.

Now their cap space will be significantly decreased.

its not impossible at this point, but its more unlikely.
24-30 aint gonna be enough for a big time guy.

That’s why they have to bank on Herro evolving...Butker, Bam, Herro and depending on the $25-$30M player could be nice for 3-4 years before Butler regresses

His picture should be next to the definition of jackass in the dictionary
in next years draft Ball would likely not be in the top 8.

The 2021 NBA mock draft features the most talented class on the NBA horizon, loaded with superstar level prospects.

The 2021 NBA draft class is one of the most talented and deepest in recent memory.

the #1 guy- Cade Cunningham at Oklahoma State is one of those guys who everyone knows is going to be the #1 pick long before it happens - 6' 7" pg with ridiculous talent. A ton of very talented wing players.

Cavs should take one more season down- develop Sexton, Okoro, Windler, Garland and Porter Jr (if he is not in jail), and get one more blue chip guy that can maybe be THE guy that brings it together.

this season is going to be another shit show anyway- maybe not so much as last season, but its still not going to feel the same as a normal season. By next year things hsould be relatively back to normal.

Yep, it's why the suddenly a little desperate Warriors don't want to part with their Minny pick next year.

thats just no true.

ball was one of the best players in a league filled with good college players, who are now grown men, and former NBA players.

if he went to college he would’ve been the slam dunk number one pick imo

!

I never said they were going to be great. I said the Pels and Suns both can make the playoffs....as 7 and 8 seeds. I never said they would be contenders.....just both made enough moves to make the postseason.

And not sure how you think they are going to be awful shooting from the outside.

Redick made 45%.
Ingram 39%.
Ball 38%.
Bledsoe 35%

That's just those 4.

Because of their main players, Reddick is the only shooter.

Ball is a bad shooter. He is improving, but his FT% and career 3 point percentage show his actual ability. 2020 might have been an outlier career best 3 point percentage for him.

I would bet on both those percentages going down.

And 35% isn’t very good.

Whiteside would be a fool to sign with the Lakers.

The minutes and the role just aren’t there for him.

Ball has improved his 3point shooting every season in the NBA. And last season, he averaged 6.3 attempts a game.
