Any idea what this might mean for Bart? Will Bart be moved to another position right away (1st so Posey can stay behind the dish?) or will Bailey be groomed for another position (3rd? To replace Posey?)

Nahh, I don't think we need to start the McCovey or Cepeda conversation just yet.

Zaidi likes positional flexibility, so in a perfect world I think both guys learn a different position, and they both make it to the big leagues and share the position.

For the time being, premium catching prospects are tough to find and tougher to develop, so they're just hedging that bet.

edit: more relevant example

Some pluses:

He's a switch hitter. Always nice for a catcher

He's young for a college player (just turned 21 twelve days ago)

Nice plate approach. Always around a 1:1 BB:K ratio in college.

He was on track to demolish his home run career high. Had six in just 17 games prior to the season getting cancelled.

Interesting... mlb guys are speculating that Boston may be punting on this draft by picking unsignable guys...

So we will just play catcher at every position. Our GM sucks so bad that it is impossible to comprehend how piss poor he is at his job.

That was a pretty odd pick. Kind of reminded me of the Panik/Arroyo picks for the Giants, just comes out of no where

Bart at 1B & DH (universal DH coming via new CBA in 2022+)
Bailey at C

As Cal notes, Bart's defense has come a long way. Most reports have it vastly improved since college. I think mostly likely both will play, and the other DH's or plays 1st. I have no idea about Bailey's chops elsewhere, so a catcher, 1B, DH rotation is most likely.

To add context to the tweet I embedded, there was a rumor on Monday from a reliable draft resource that the Giants were connected to a lot of high schoolers because they were assessing the market for their second round and two comp picks. Perhaps Bailey allows them to save some money and target an over-slot high schooler with their next pick.

Also of note, he was teammates with Will Wilson last year, who the Giants just traded for this offseason.

3B/RHP Casey Schmidt

in general, I am not a fan of 2-way players. Not enough focus to be successful. Apparently, he is giving 3B his full attention at this point, though...

a college senior, so signability should not be an issue...

So second round is started for us with a 3rd baseman who is also a closer.
