If a player opts out for this year, how if their contract affected? If this year simply voided? Or is the contract shifted out one year?

Getting a bit off topic for this thread, but here's what MLB Trade Rumors had to say about Price's decision, as it affects his salary:
"By choosing not to play this year, Price will forfeit his prorated 2020 salary, which would have been roughly $11.9MM for a 60-game season. He will remain under contract with the Dodgers for two more years, valued at $64MM total. It’s worth mentioning that, with the Red Sox agreeing to shoulder half of Price’s $32MM salary for this year, Boston will also save nearly $6MM this season."

The last player that hasn't officially signed is Harrison, but that's because they needed to complete all of the other deals first to assure they could still sign Harrison to the reported $2.5 million deal.

Now that Dabovich has signed, an official announcement will likely be coming regarding Harrison. The team will probably also make some sort of announcement now too.

The team goes over their amount by just a hair.

Interestingly, my first actual review of this draft…

Also interestingly, EVERY pick from this draft signed. I understand the uniqueness of this draft, but still.

So far, 22 players have made it to the bigs with only 11 having a positive career WAR.

Strider (Atl 4-25) 5.8
Elder (Atl 5-25) 3.3
Detmers (LAA 1-10) 3.1
Garrett (CWS 1-11) 1.7
Bailey (SF 1-13) 1.6

Atlanta is getting BIG early returns with 2 early stars. Their 1st rounder, Jared Shuster, was up earlier this season and while he struggled (45 IP, 5.00 ERA, 25K, 22BB, 1.42s WHIP), he still accumulated positive WAR (0.3). He certainly looks like a good pick as well. Their only other pick, 3rd round OFer Jesse Franklin is currently in AA, putting up very pedestrian numbers.

The Giants have obviously hit hard in their first rounder (Bailey) who looks like a real star.

Schmitt is struggling now, but he also looks to have at least a decent floor as a career journeyman Util player, but he also has potential to be an all-star level infielder (could be a starting 3B or SS).

Swiney started the year in Richmond, but was promoted to Sacto and has actually looked pretty good in the offensive league (3.92 ERA, 20.2 IP, 17K, 15BB, 1.742 WHIP. He probably won’t make it to SF until mid-late next year, but he definitely looks like he is on his way.

Glowenke has struggled since joining the Giants. He started this year off well in Eugene, but has continued to struggle in Richmond since being promoted. I would guess he is falling into the org-filler category at this point.

Dabovich was taken in the 4th round and started getting a lot of helium in the Lunatic Fringe last year, making quite a few Giants top 10 lists. He started ‘22 in Richmond and put up a 0.900 WHIP in 26.2 innings. After his promotion to Sacto, he struggled a bit, but was 4 years younger than league average. Unfortunately, he got injured this year on April 12 and has not pitched since (he had hip surgery but could return to the field in September).

5th rounder Ryan Murphy is in his second season at AA, but still hasn’t found his footing. He is striking out less than a batter per inning and walking almost 5 per 9. He is only 23, so there is still hope, but I wouldn’t count on anything from him at this point.

Carter Williams got some playing time in AA this year but is mainly the 4th outfielder with Eugene.
Tyler Forner was never released but is not assigned to any roster this year, is not listed as retired and is not on an IL. Every once in a while a player in the org just completely disappears.
Bret Auerbach looked promising for a while but hit horribly in Richmond last year and this year. He's been moved mainly to the infield and is currently with Eugene.
Robert Emery put up some good offensive numbers but got buried in the depth charts at catcher and got released this year after a slow start (while hardly playing).
Ty Weber is an org pitcher who bounces around to whichever team needs an emergency pitcher. However, he is stayed put at Eugene for most of this year.
Wil Jensen was looking promising prior to 2023 as a starter but had some rough starts with Richmond at the end of last year and got converted to bullpen work this year. He has a nice ERA (2.85) but a lackluster WHIP (1.342) in the Flying Squirrels bullpen.
Haydn King was released last offseason.
