I'm sure it has an out clause for if/when the NHL returns. Just trying to get some game action while he waits. That's his local team in Austria.

On Hart, I think they likely go bridge deal too. The maximum length allowed by the CBA is 8 years as a re-signee, but I think they'll go shorter term with him.

Don't remember the rules off the top of my head anymore, but I looked them up. He's got to have 7 seasons of dressing for 30+ games before he's a UFA. He's got 2 now, 3 at the end of this contract (summer 2021). He'll be UFA in the summer of 2025. So I would imagine they go with a 3 year deal so that he's still RFA at the end of it. Vasilevsky is probably the best comparable (3x3.5 in 2016), so EVille is probably pretty close with 3-4M. Maybe 4-5M due to inflation and Hart's resume through 2 years is a little bit better.

That maximizes the amount of money they have to make some runs while he's relatively cheap and the old guys can still play.

My question is why cant he play somewhere here in the USA as he can get Covid just as easily here as over there.

There aren't any leagues in the US that are playing. I don't think he's the only guy, particularly Europeans who may have already been there anyway, to join a Euro team for the time being.

I would think with the release of vaccines soon things will stay the same.

NHL is being very cautious in order to manage expectations. It's December 1... from previous communications from NHL, camps would have to be open by Dec 15th +/- in order to support a Jan 1 start date. I can't imagine going past this Friday to announce camp start date if Jan 1 is still the season start date. I expect a day for day delay in the season, if we hear nothing by Friday at 5 PM EST.

Well, Dr Fauci is optimistic for sports leagues starting Sept 2021 and beyond.

So I guess that means the longest we have to wait is 11 months.

I would think with the release of vaccines soon things will stay the same.

I believe that hockey players wont be getting vaccines until the rest of us get it around June to July. It has to go to doctors and nurses, cops fireman essential workers, elderly ETC so hopefully they can power through a season without the vaccine.
