Im sorry i know how much we pay him i should've rephrased my question. He is an RFA next season how much should we pay next year. Or should we extend him a new contract this year.
I say lock him up for a long time, he either becomes the superstar we hope or not. I think he has the skills to be a hall of famer for sure. I would like to see at least a deal worth 8 years.

I would like to see that also but at what price? We cant just offer him 8 years at 7 million per right now. If he wants to do 8 years at 5 million per year id be good with that but his agent should be fired for accepting that.

Meet him in the middle at 6? If he brings us a cup or 2 and keeps us competitive for those years, I'm elated with that. With that out of the way it lets management concentrate on shoring up the weaknesses.

I think you guys are way off. I see a bridge deal, say 3yrs 3-4 million. This keeps him a RFA at the end of the deal and the team can reassess his performance and cap space when a few heavy contracts are off the books.

I like 8 years at 6 million per. I wish he would take that deal.

I could see this happening also, but what do we do if he wants to get 6 million per years for the bridge deal?

I also like this deal but his agent would want him in free agency sooner than 10 years im assuming.
Free agent at +/- 31 years old is kinda pushing it.....

That's what I'm saying. His agent would definitely want him being a free agent sooner than 31 so he wouldn't sign a 10 year deal.

So working backwards from this, his MAX term would be something like 5-6 years. He could try to lock in at say $6MM per and roll the dice he goes to Vasilevskiy level for 5-6 years after that.

OR the bridge route to try to get to Vasilevskiy money in 3 years and get a 10 year deal at 24 yrs old - takes him to 34.

I doubt that happens. He doesn’t have any leverage for such a demand. He hasn’t really won anything and only has about a year and half in the NHL. I think the Vasi comparison is what we can expect the contracts to look like at this point.

So I've completely watched almost the entire last seven years of hockey highlights and even a lot of different teams seasons over that time span. Definitely a lot of where did this team come from moments. Only the Blues were the team to make it all the way and win it, but it was sure strange watching some of the teams that caught chemistry and went on runs. Hope we catch that fire.
