You have to love the New York crowd booing Djokovic for retiring with the shoulder injury. It clearly was affecting the serve to a level that he wasn't gonna beat Stan. Why risk it?

As it stands, he will likely lose year-end #1, as it would be pretty surprising to see him before the Year-End Championships (and likely not there). Nadal will be the favorite for that, with Fed the only major challenge. If either Fed or Nadal can find a way to win this tournament, it will be a huge aid in their push for the GOAT title. There are a few high-ceiling guys left (Wawrinka, Cilic, Zverev, Medvedev), but Fed and Nadal are clearly the two most consistent guys left.

Nole hurt his left shoulder not his serving one. It was a puss move on his part and he deserved to be booed. Even if it altered his game a little there was no reason to stop. Finish it out and take your whooping like a man.

Exactly. Pulling out in the 3rd set was weak.

Going to have a first time finalist in the US open finals I believe.

Bencic, Vekic, Townsend/Andreescu, or Ahn/Mertens.

Have to think either Serena or Svitolina win the title

If there was no roof, today would have been a complete washout.

The french need to get it with the program ASAP.

All the other majors has at least 2 roofs. French with none

Cant believe he lost to that midget. Another surprise is Berritini is playing his ass off.

Only made it past r16 in the French open

He is great in best of 3. Not built for best of 5

Berrettini or Monfils will be in the semifinals. Pretty shocking

Is it true that Fed/Nadal never played in the US Open?

If it is then this year is now or never.

No real reason why they shouldn't meet on Sunday for the title

when he and fed were 1 and 2 for all those years, nadal was losing to guys like blake, robredo, and youzhny at the us open.

fed made it to a bunch of major finals against rafa on rafa's favorite surface, but nadal really struggled to even make it to the us open final until he had already gotten 8 majors and been #2 or #1 for 8 years.

based on the level of play i've seen from rafa, i think he's a clear favorite to take this title. i saw one of his 1st serves hit 126 tonight, and he was averaging 123, i think. those are big serving numbers for him, and the fact that he's moving so well is bad news for anybody he plays from here on out.
