Sure. But Kawhi had to carry that Raptors team through most of their playoff run. Who wants that much on their shoulders, year in year out? I'm not saying he should want the Lakers, I'm just saying don't be surprised if he does. We have no idea what he's going to do.

LeBron's a SF. Kawhi's a SF. I'll be surpirse if he picks the Lakers. Unless you're suggesting LeBron will be the starting PF next year. But I do agree nobody knows what Kawhi will do.

A second round playoff team without him in 2018 is Siberia? They went farther than the Spurs did. FVV has an inferiority complex for some reason...

Don't know where you get FVV has an inferiority complex at all. And many considered Toronto the NBA equivalence of Siberia given TV time, weather, etc... For the most part, they were considered a franchise that really didn't matter.

Well, the Spurs did think they could trade him to the NBA equivalence of Siberia and think they'd get the last laugh.

Didn't exactly work out that way. Kawhi still found gold.
They got the best package they were offered for him. I highly doubt they were trying to get the last laugh. Sucks that people think that. They didn't wanna trade the guy. The fact that they got an All-Star back at that point in time was remarkable.

I'd like to see him stay in Toronto. They have a damn good team right now. But if he wants to get closer to home can't fault him for that. Kawhi never says anything so nobody knows what his next move will be. Maybe he doesn't even know at this point.

The dude is uber talented, so he's going to get huge money from someone. But I have to wonder how soon his act will start wearing thin with teams.

Obviously he's not coming to Oakland but I wouldn't want him anywhere near my team. Some guys are talented but team killers. He obviously wasn't when he had LeBron around to babysit him but those days are done.

I thought he was the one who said he wasn't going anywhere for the last 4 years...obviously things change but wonder if they would shop him for some bad contracts and a nice draft pick

When you said a team killer the 1st player I thought of was CarMElo. But in the right situation I still think Love can be a good assest for a team. Not sure which one though.

Report: Kyrie Irving Treated Jayson Tatum Same Way LeBron James Treated Him | Cavaliers Nation

Report: Kyrie Irving Treated Jayson Tatum Same Way LeBron James Treated Him

During the time that Kyrie Irving was on the Cleveland Cavaliers with LeBron James, he was often asked to defer to James and supplement the four-time MVP. As a result, James often treated Irving like a little brother and would often reprimand the young point guard.

With Irving’s brief career as a member of the Boston Celtics possibly at an end, one Celtics insider indicates that Irving treated Boston teammate Jayson Tatum in a similar fashion.

Jeff Goodman appeared on a NBC Sports Boston to look at the Celtics’ failed effort to acquire New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis and how he would have personally made Tatum untouchable in any proposed deal:

"Kyrie treated Tatum the way LeBron treated Kyrie." @GoodmanHoopsexplains why he would've given up anything other than Tatum in a trade for Anthony Davis pic.twitter.com/9vszpyQ9Gh

— Celtics on NBC Sports Boston (@NBCSCeltics) June 17, 2019

"I would have given up anything other than Tatum. I would have rolled the dice and given up Jaylen Brown in a deal like [Al] Horford and Marcus Smart, I might have done all that, but I was not going to give up Jayson Tatum.”

Asked why Tatum’s numbers during the 2018-19 season slipped from his rookie campaign, Goodman pointed directly to the presence of Irving:

“I just think he was held back by Kyrie, I really do. I feel like Kyrie treated Tatum like LeBron treated Kyrie, to some extent. ‘You’re my little brother, this is where you’re gonna be. We’re not going to let you spread your wings too much. We’ll let you spread ’em, but you’re still a piece here.’

“If Tatum were allowed, and he will be this year, we’re going to see, I mean, this kid is, is going to be a perennial All-Star in this league. Now the big question I have, ‘Who’s going to be the point guard?’ Because [Terry] Rozier, Smart, whatever, both. Are they good enough? You need somebody still at that point guard spot to make things easier for Jayson.”

In reality, Tatum ended this past season with averages of 15.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, which were actually improvements from his respective rookie numbers of 13.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per contest.

During Tatum’s rookie campaign in 2017-18, he was forced to shoulder more responsibility due to Irving sitting out the entire postseason due to injury. However, the Celtics reached Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, compared to this season’s exit in the second round with a healthy Irving running the team.

In addition to having on-court chemistry issues with teammates, Irving also reportedly aggravated other Celtics with his open criticism about their play and his apparent refusal to acknowledge his own mistakes.

The 21-year-old Tatum was the third overall pick in the NBA draft just two years ago and remains a central component of the Celtics’ future. With Irving likely to sign as a free agent elsewhere next month, the hope is that Tatum will have the freedom to flourish into one of the game’s young stars.

Lebron was essentially the starting PF last year. Kawhi could play SG with no trouble.

Hard to find the right deal for him = hard to move him at his new salary.

Other than the obvious (everyone wants the max), how do we know even that about Kyrie? Getting the supermax from the Spurs didn't change his mind there.

I don't think it would be difficult to move him. BUT could they get the value they want back in return and do they even want to trade him, they have reiterated year after year they don't want to...so we will see

Well he could get more from the Raptors and Clippers and rumors have been swirling for awhile he would choose the Clippers over Lakers anyway, also he just won a title in Toronto so really the Lakers make no sense. Plus, he will be ridiculed, at least some, for joining two other stars. Too much drama for Kawhi, that isn't like him. Still possible, but not likely.

Kawhi could play SG w/ no trouble even though he's never played that position in the NBA or college? Not sure about that one.

And how many games do you expect LeBron to play at the PF spot?
