It sounds like my DLo prediction is going to be off. Rumors are if the Lakers don't get Kawhi or Kyrie, they will breaking up the cap space with role players, which makes sense.

TT’s contract was a higher percentage of a max deal back then than 4 year 90 million would be for Barnes today.

The difference though, is that the Cavs were capped out and no viable alternative to spend that money.

Why will Magic be there? I mean from a player perspective and him being a great Laker, I get it.

Magic still carries some weight with today's players, even though most have probably never seen him play, and Kawhi grew up in the LA area.

He never should have been in that executive role. Schmoozing FA's during meetings should have been his role all along.

Hmm not so sure about that. We saw Lebron have the two postseasons of all-time arguably before this past year. Full season-no doubt but playoff time he would be the #1. AD hasnt won a series in his career, maybe one? Kawhi while he played great we saw VanVleet be their scoring option down the stretch to win the Finals. As long as Lebron is still at the end of his prime he will always be a #1

So, according to Ramona Shelburne...Neither Magic, nor AD can be included in the actual meeting with Kawhi because neither are currently part of the Lakers organization.

They can each meet with him before the meeting if they want. But they can't be part of the actual meeting.

RUMOR: ESPN's Brian Windhorst Reveals Who Is Now Interested In Joining LeBron James, Lakers

The Lakers created a third max slot on Thursday after agreeing to a trade with the Washington Wizards. The expectation is Los Angeles wants to use that third max slot on Kyrie Irving or Kawhi Leonard.

Windhorst says other second-tier and third-tier free agents want to play for the Lakers now that they have Anthony Davis next to LeBron James:

“There are guys out there who are lining up to join the Lakers, even if they’re on minimum contracts,” Windhorst said on ESPN radio. “Guys want to join this team, they want to be a part of this team, there’s a momentum there.”

Some free agents who the Lakers could take a look at are Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith, Derrick Rose, Jamal Crawford and Markieff Morris. LA needs a starting point guard, as they sent Lonzo Ball to the New Orleans Pelicans in the Davis trade.


The Lakers could decide to re-sign Rajon Rondo since he has a good rapport with Davis. Rondo and AD played one season together in New Orleans.

It’s shaping up to be a good 2019-20 season for the Lakers. With Davis and James in the mix, Los Angeles could contend for a championship. We’ll see if they decide to use that third max slot on a star player or break it up to fill out the roster.

If we get Kawhi, I really shouldn't complain about anything but this would irk me to no end. Rondo just isn't good. Can we please sign literally any other PG? We're still gonna need shooting even with Lebron/Kawhi/AD in this scenario, just find some cheap guy or old timer that can at least make a shot. I think I saw George Hill is a free agent. He'd be infinitely times better than Rondo. I'd take pretty much anyone else. Do not like him at all. One of the most overrated players of the last decade
