Are the players moving their wives, kids, families all over the world with them?
Giving up their homes, lifestyles, luxuries they’re accustomed to?

Why would their families need to move? We're not talking about playing overseas for years, we're talking a few months (if that) while a strike/lockout gets worked out.

Also, my bet would be that it never actually reached that point. We're talking about leverage that NBA players have that NFL players don't.

Why would the overseas team want to be a pawn?

Ticket sales? Merchandise sales?

Love was traded for Wiggins and Bennet, two former #1 overall picks. You aren't getting of Love's caliber for the picks that the Clips received...lol

"Neither of LAC is better than SGA". - weren't we talking abut Gallinari?
Maybe you aren't aware but Bennett isn't good. By your "logic" Houston should try and later deal Bennett instead of their future picks because, ya know, Bennett is a #1 and those future picks wont be so high.

Ya gotta love this forum.

and, yes, we were talking about Galinari.....and the idea you think they could have received a better player than him as far as talent and contract.

Reminds me of a line a player said during the last NBA lockout/work stoppage, I think it was Kenny Anderson, trying to garner a little sympathy from fans:

"Yes we make a lot of money, but we spend a lot of money too!"
Might have been mentioned, but I think it might have been Ewing. Not sure though....but it's a classic.

Gallinari was only a point or two off from the leading scorer on LAC all season and when tobias got traded he was the 2nd leading scorer on the team. He was one of the leading scoring options on LAC when they were in the playoffs, he should have been better especially at this veteran age.

Gallinari is 30 years old while Mitchell is 22 years old. I'll cut Mitchell some slack now because if I don't it ruins my narrative

I have no doubt they would been better off.

Seriously, though, why not explore the many other opportunities that would have been available if you waited then at least you know for sure if you made the best trade. It's only good sense to get as many bids as possible when making any trade in life.
Unless it was a take it or leave it offer as Kawhi had other options.

The Suns 4th pick in 2016 is heading back to CSKA Moscow.

The 8th pick in 2016 draft who the Suns via draft night trade is still on the market

Reason #27772722288288 why getting a top 5 pick/several lottery picks guarantees you absolutely nothing
Has anyone ever said it guarantees anything? You definitely have to make the right choices. Fairly certain if you offer a GM a top 5 pick or a pick in the teens he'll take the top 5 choice to make.

Care for a list of players drafted in the teens who did not pan out?

I thought it was going to be Philly, they needed him after Redick bolted.
Philly was my guess to...reason you gave and think the fans really loved him there.

At the end of day, don't chase him if you not expecting a several day wait.

That's why I'm not a big fan of getting draft picks in trades and why I think OKC's draft haul it acquired from LAC is overvalued.[/QUOTE]
But you are ignoring OKC can (and likely will) also be free to use those picks in trade.

Using Lebron for any example pertaining to finances is a moot subject. He has a life-time contract from Nike and also has already set up several business ventures out in LA and is already worth a half billion. Off the court, he'll likely be the next Magic. If the NBA were to fold up shop tomorrow, he'd be more than fine.

Unless they do something stupid, I'd wager that most of the top level guys would be just fine if the NBA closed shop.

But yeah, I agree that Lebron likely quit needing his NBA money a few years ago.

I’m like 99% sure we’re arguing the same point so not sure why you said Huh
I think it was you saying how great it was for NFL players that their franchise tag salary was guaranteed maybe?

If so, the "huh" was because they'd prefer not to be franchised.

We're in the stretch run now. August signals NFL pre-season.

Yup it is just about over. Weather nice anyway. Shouldn't necessarily be home on the weekends in the summer anyway.

I probably been home on 1 Saturday since early June
