The Clippers HAD to get this done. It's arguably the only shot they've really ever had at making a dent in the Lakers hold on LA.

If they had let Kawhi go to the Lakers or even re-sign in Toronto, they may as well have moved to Seattle for all of the attention they'd get in LA. lol

If PG and/or Kawhi get hurt, it would suck for them, but at least they've shown that they can land big time FA's. If they hadn't pulled off what they did, they'd probably be back to never even getting meetings again.

Plus, if memory serves, the 2+1 sets him up for a huge payday in a couple of seasons.

It also syncs up well with the end of the 2 year contracts that the Lakers have signed guys to and the end of Lebron's contract so the Lakers can steal him.
