Sucked is what you would say to describe the tank. Though the last tank worked.

Gilbert made an emotional statement. Still doesn't take away the facts. Cavs lost Lebron and made the Finals 5 years later and the following 3 seasons. Heat lost him and in year 6 under ideal circumstances might be a 4-5 seed?

The difference between the Cavs when Lebron left and the Heat is that when Lebron left the Cavs the first time, he left the cupboard bare. The Cavs were tanking whether they wanted to or not.

When he left the Heat, D-Wade and Bosh were still there and many thought the Cavs and Heat could have ended up seeing each other in the ECF. But then Bosh's blood clot issues started and dragged on for what? 2-3 more years with Bosh still counting against their cap.

Because they were trying to compete, the Heat made different decisions regarding their roster/contracts than they may have made if they knew Bosh's clotting issues were going to end his career.

The only reason the Cavs recovered as quickly as they did was because Lebron then chose to come back. He was the only chance the Cavs had since no one else was coming.

True, but you are excluding alot of in between.

1. James/Bosh both wanted sign and trades which cost the Heat assets.

2. Bosh had career ending illness, while still taking up max cap space.

3. Cavs got very lucky with low % chances in draft lotto.

Cavs will have a team that has significant success long before Miami.

Maybe if you are watching highlights of past James seasons was there?

Anyway, as far as future winning, highly doubt it.
Cavs will be bad this season.
Heat is very close to digging out of the hole we were in.

If he is on his way to Toronto. No way Masai lets him leave without a contract

Its ok to just say sucked vs tanked.
Gilbert guaranteed Cavs would win before James did.
That doesn’t sound like the words of someone who wants to lose.

But, yes, I know the story of what happened.

Hypothetical. If James didn’t go back, you think the Cavs would have even made the playoffs since he left?
I don’t.
sorry....missed that last question. Answer is yes. Though not much higher than a 7-8 seed. Think they were 9-11 year before they got him.

Only way you could get Beal is by also taking Wall.

Assets just aren’t there.

Bam, Winslow + is not enough. And I doubt you would want to do even that.

Yup. We'd have to overhaul our roster to take on both contracts. I like Beal, not enough to take on Wall though as well.

Oooh.

I smell a bet coming on

I’m not going to address it directly but I don’t see how anyone in Cleveland could even be remotely optimistic no matter how batshit crazy they are.
