The Celtics can't trade for AD while Kyrie is still on his current deal, which ends at the start of the new league year at midnight 6/30. The draft is on 6/20.

That still isn't true. Otherwise there would be no trades prior to 6/30.

Yep, make one more great offer to the Pelicans and if they decline move the fuck on. They obviously have something out for the Lakers. Beal is a perfect compliment to Lebron. They can add another AS player and try to build depth.

Heck, maybe they can find out before?

I'd have Klutch reach out to Griffin behind the scenes and find out if there are any circumstances under which the Pels would trade with the Lakers.

If I like the answer, then I make my best offer as soon as allowable.

If I don't like the answer, then I don't even have to waste any of my time and can go straight to Plan B.

Beal would be an option if the Lakers can't get one of the wings available in FA (Durant - unlikely, Klay - unlikely, Kawhi?, Butler?). If those aren't options (and AD is sent somewhere where he will agree to stay - like NY), then the Lakers can sign Vucevic (or Kyrie?) and trade for Beal. If the Lakers do sign Kawhi or Butler, then the trade target would likely change to a center if AD is out of the picture.

Idk Lebron, Beal and Kawhi or Butler....still a good fit for Beal. They could just play small and keep McGee or getting a rim protector.

PG - ?
SG - Beal
SF - Kawhi/Butler
PF - Lebron
C - McGee

I can't imagine Kyrie staying in Boston. Keep believing if you want...

oh i've said before i don't think he stays.

I think if they don't get a deal done on draft night, it means Kyrie is out.

Cause I think boston's offseason has already started like this:

Danny: So here's our plan

1) trade Brown and Tatum
2) let Rozier go in FA
3) remmeber that trading thing? They're going to get you Brow
4) here's 5 year max money, what options do you want on that deal?
5) with all that being done...are you in?

if he doesn't immediately say yes, you can't make a brow deal.

Pending free agents cannot be traded after the Feb deadline. This includes players that have options (the option would have to be picked up first).

So, Kyrie will be on the roster until 7/1. Simple.

Frankly I might just trade for another wing and resign McGee and/or chandler.

Yep start the process ASAP. Then you can move onto Beal, other trade scenarios

Chandler was unusable after the all-star break. He's done.

McGee would be a perfect compliment around those 3 guys. Seemed like he enjoyed playing with Lebron and in LA too. If they get Kawhi or Butler I still think they need an elite perimeter shooter/2 guard...Beal would still be an ideal fit. I mean could you imagine Kawhi and Lebron with Beal. Crazy

It doesn't matter. Deals are agreed upon in principle.

Just like if the Knicks get AD. They will agree to the trade but it won't happen until after they sign their possible big time FA's

The NBA has a few quiet periods where deals can't officially happen, IIRC.

Younger definitely, Barrett and Knox are very young. If Barrett were to live up to the hype he could be very good but what we do know is Tatum is easily better than any player for the Lakers, Celtics or Knicks offers. They will probably take the Knicks though for the fact they will get sucked into pleasing Zion with his friend RJ. If Knox and RJ don't live up to the hype, Zion will force his way out sooner rather than later. The Knicks offer makes the most sense, but it still isn't the best imo.

Never been a fan of Lonzo or Ingram, I've said that for awhile.

I just hate the talk about how a player is young so they MUST have more potential than a guy 2 years older. Every player is different. Andrew Wiggins is the perfect example.

It all comes down to what the Pelicans like more and every franchise and GM is going to have a different opinion. Lucky for N.O. they have one of the best in Griffin.
Not JUST Barrett.

Mitchell Robinson is a hometown product.

That buys some good will with the Natives.

Fuck it.

Trade Holiday to the Suns for their pick and Oubre.

Throwing in the Dallas picks would definitely change things.
I think Barrett and Ingram could end up being a wash.

Difference is, like @tlance mentioned, Ingram has to be extended.

That, and the drop in quality between the #3 and #4 picks, is the biggest difference.

The Suns might actually do that lol

Stock up on top 10 picks lol

#1, #3, #6
Zion, Barrett and Garland or White PLUS Knox, Robinson, DSJ, Oubre

Resign Randle maybe. Either way the Pelicans can possibly get multiple homeruns in this draft. They are going to get crazy good offers for AD. This is a dream for them.

Sure, but if you don't know if Kyrie is staying, how do you sell AD on staying in Boston? Is Ainge willing to risk his trade assets including Tatum on selling AD on staying in Boston without a star to pair him with?

"Crazy good" offers will only come from teams confident that AD will stay next summer.

I have absolutely no idea what Ainge is thinking. He may be thinking of ways to keep Kyrie. He may already have him out the door. But he's going to have a plan either way which may or may not involve a move to get AD.

Knicks, Lakers and Celtics. All the teams interested. AD would stay in Boston if they kept Kyrie, he said he likes Boston as well.

If the Knicks get commitments from KD and/or Kyrie they would give N.O. whatever they wanted for AD.

The Lakers already tried to trade their whole team minus Lebron.

If the C's offered for AD and talked to Kyrie they would give up a lot for AD.

Those are the only teams that we know are really interested and/or made offers to this point. All would give up the farm for AD.
