The opening up of cap space is interesting, though.

Woj said it may be for taking a shot a Vucevic... I don't know about that, personally... but it is probably for some reason.

Idk. Williams is weird. He’s ok in analytics. But he’s that guy and has few normal nba qualities. It’s just an odd choice.

I do like the Purdue PG.

Probably my favorite pick of them.

Waters is kind of a throw away imo.

He’s got some good steal data but not much else.

Williams appears to just know how to play basketball.

If he develops a steady 3 pt shot, he can be a useful NBA piece... PJ Tucker with better passing skills?

Waters is a mid to late 2nd rounder... probably best to expect nothing out of him and be pleasantly surprised if he gives us anything at all.

2nd PG taken, though... I really think Rozier is out.

I would’ve rather taken Jontay Porter.

He fits the al style of center.

But I don’t have his medical either

This. We got the necessary 2nd star to go with James.

I will say though the way Pelinka fumbled the cap situation gives me pause to think he'll be able to put the right pieces around AD and Lebron.

I wanted Porter, even at #13. Porter at #30 is a damn steal. His biggest obstacle is himself. He just needs to get his attitude and work ethic right.

Why couldn't the Heat just keep Bol Bol and roll the dice?

I was hoping Thunder would take Kevin Porter. Anyone know anything about Bazely?

Well the draft is over. It will take about 3 years to see how these players make out. Unfortunately, half these dudes will be outta the league.

My takeaways overall:

Winners:

-Pelicans- added Hayes and Nickeil Alexander to Zion and a bunch of future picks
-Hawks- Hunter, Reddish and Fernando is a really nice trio. They seem to have a very clear plan for the kind of team they are building
-Cavaliers- Not sure about Garland's fit with Sexton, but they hit it out of the park with draft value in all 3 picks
-Minnesota- I like turning Saric +11 into Culver
-Portland- Nassir Little is a great value at a position of need

Losers:

-Phoenix- love the Ty Jerome pick. But sorry. Could have had White or Culver at 6 and instead traded down for Saric and a player who probably would have been there at 24 and might have been available at 32 with a pick they sold for cash.

No other obvious losers for me at this time.

Bruno Fernando is a steal. Teams will regret having passed on him.

If Saric can regain his Philly form, I love what the Suns did.

PG: Jerome
SG: Booker
SF: Johnson
PF: Saric
C: Ayton

They needed to build around Booker and Ayton will more sensible pieces and I think they did that. I will admit I'm higher on Johnson than most probably are(I had him top 15) so I don't think it's a reach getting him at 11.

Was supposed to go to OSU , then flaked to Cuse because of Matta and then didn't go there either.

He was a good HS player tho

I have washington and Boston also as losers. Plus the hawks, who simply gave up too much to move up to 4 for a guy who isn't a go to player. A smaller trade up with Chicago might've made more sense. Since he was probably falling to 7 if he didn't go 4.

Boston just had zero direction and with 3 picks should've gotten more out of it. Williams is just a weird fit for this team as well.

He doesn't have size, length, or shooting and is more powerful than explosive as an athlete.

I have been down on Romeo Langford for a bit. He didn't impress me at all in BIG play

I am high on the potential of the Atlanta Hawks... like @tlance said, it appears there is a vision there... building off of the GS template... and that vision is really starting to take shape.

Hunter is exactly what they needed... they're gonna be able to shoot from all over the place, and now maybe play some defense too.

You can put the Wizards on the loser list for a lot of reasons .

Not this draft. They did fine.

As for ATL?

Perhaps they gave up too much to NO. But they got 3 really nice pieces that fit their build. That is more important.

I just think both teams didn't get nearly as much upside as they could've out of premium picks.

I can understand going safe when your other pick is Reddish, who has just massive bust potential, but to move up for it and take it 4th...idk. It's tough to swallow top 10 picks for guys whose upside are role players.
