No, that's what he earns, here's a list before Calipari's raise:

NCAA College Basketball Coaches Salaries - How Much Do Top Guys Make?
Well, from this it appears not every coach is just chasing the almight dollar...i.e. Mark Few. I'm sure he's been offered a lot more to leave Gonzaga. But, this may not tell the whole story....i.e. Gary Patterson's "package" with TCU doesn't necessarily show up in salary.

And, some of these guys aren't necessarily paid for their results...as compared to their cohorts.

I’m thinking Bruce will get a bump after this year. He earned it!
I agree.

I was ragging one of the local Red Fader faithful that lives here about not being able to keep Chris Beard. He said Beard would earn as much in bonuses this year for making the Sweet Sixteen and Final Four as his salary. Don't know if he knows what he is talking about.

Except for one personal issue that makes Lubbock attractive, I still think they'll need to triple Beard's salary to keep him. jmo

Is A&M an upgrade over Tech?

Serious question

Basketball wise? No. It's basically a lateral move from that standpoint. Neither school is the top of their conference, but there's enough recruiting in both areas to where you can compete to win the conference every now and then. And you'll be able to make some tournament runs. But A&M can pay more money if they want and most importantly for Buzz, he was raised just a couple of hours away. He's got family in Texas, a reasonable drive away from A&M, so it was a big factor in going back "home" to be closer to his family.

EDIT: Add another potential VT candidate to go along with Wojo; Kevin Willard from Seton Hall

They're going after Willard, and hard.

Seton Hall has a really good team next year tho. So it will be interesting to see what he does.

The Big East is apparently going to be the springboard for coaches to go to football schools where they can pay 33% more.

UConn fans are not happy with this development.

We’ll see if seton hall wants to pay a big buyout though....

Would they ever actually go after Pitino?

They should, but won't. And this is the same school that was coached by Larry Brown and Jim Harrick. The worst thing about that program is they think they are better than everyone else and they aren't. This isn't the 70's anymore.

Yeah I agree. It would be cool to see slick Rick at Pauley Pavilion.

Here's the difference;

School pay includes $300,000 contribution to a split-dollar life insurance arrangement that will be made on July 1, 2019 if Holtmann remains head coach through June 30, 2019. The university is entitled to reimbursement of the contribution, "plus interest at an at-market rate of return" from the arrangement's death benefits.
