Of course not especially when you can get Tommy John rehabers and career minor league flunkies for next to nothing.

If he's serious about letting Dunn earn that 5th spot then you know they might leave Sheffield up with the big club if he's pitching well out of spring ball

I love reading articles that talk about so and so compelling for this and that with the Mariners. Is it really competing when you bring in no real competition?

Compete with Dunn for the #5 spot? who the hell do we have slotted at the #4 slot? I am only seeing Gonzales, Kikuchi, and Sheffield?

No its not real competition when you don't bring in any one to compete with what you got already, but however I think Jerry boy is bluffing a little on this one. He can't sit still, so I think when the smoke clears and the big ticket FA starters are signed he will go in for the scraps ( cheap of course) or someone he can flip at the deadline

I think for Jerry to really keep his job he would need to show progress in these young players or his seat will start to get warm. It would go a long way for Sheffield, Dunn, Lewis and White to play well next season. I agree this is Dunns jobs to lose and if he loses out to a guy that is just an average player probably getting dumped at the deadline that's a bad look on Jerry,

Well he does have an excuse clause if Dunn doesn't settle into the role, ( Paxton Rule) of pushing these young guys up and them not being ready for the big time just yet. They did it to James a couple times, that kid couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat back in the day...... ( before the injures)

We better get a solid player in return for Narvaez he is a young catcher with very good numbers at the plate (for a catcher) which in my opinion is hard to find.

Yeah the Brewers were desperate for a catcher and this was really the best we could do? I think the pick is more valuable then the player we got. Either way it would be nice for once if Dipoto was the one holding the cards instead of trying to get rid of guys as fast as possible
