yah absolutely....watch the Lakers strike out next year on Kawhi and come crawling to the Cavs for Love after no one wants to play with LeBron. Or maybe pay Kemba 35M a year or Khris Middleton 25M or Tobias Harris 24M a year instead. lol.

what...?!!!:pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound:

Officially a really bad contract.

Depends, imo.

I agree with Wiggy that having him locked up long term increases his trade value. If the Cavs plan is to "feature him" so that we see the Minnesota version of Love and then move him at the trade deadline or next summer...then I think it's a good move.

But, if the plan is to keep him and build around him, then I agree it's a bad contract. As much as I like him, I see him as a guy you add, not a guy you build around.

It can't increase his value.

Not sure I want to pay Love $25 million this year.

I have a feeling this will be a huge albatross in a couple years. Totally uneccesary move too.
Probably.

But, I can sort of understand their mild panic.

No offense...

This is Cleveland.

Not just any Cleveland...

But, post LeBron Cleveland.

Post LeBron Cleveland with no hope of him returning while his knees still have cartilage.

They will need to overpay everyone for a while just to get a meeting.

Was this in the best interest of the franchise?

Doubtful.....

But, they aren't likely to return to the top of the mountain until they have the chance to draft LeBron James Jr.

Seriously, that's their best hope....another home grown savior.

So, the fear of mediocrity triggered this.

That's the way I predict the Lakers season goes - 52 wins and a 2nd round exit.
I think if they seed below 5 they will lose in the first round.

If Marbury was an icon in China......Wade would be like Jesus.......

I'd do it. 8 mill a season for what.....a 25-30 game season?

The most he can get here is like 5.3 million.
I wouldn't.

No way would I leave 3 school age boys, at least one High school, and my wife to chase 8 mil when I have 100 mil in the bank.

He can probably get the 5 mil exception from the Heat.

He has a lifetime shoe contract.

And just like that...Kawhi doesn't look quite so bad anymore.
Again... Spurs haven't played B-ball in 3 months or so... how do we know when Green got hurt?

And if he played through it... did he ever notify anyone of... anything?

Two reasons I say he shouldn't do it:

1. Everyone knows the only reason established players go play in China is because they can no longer play in the NBA - so a player of Wade's caliber doing so would certainly be perceived as him being washed up.

2. He'd have to live in China. lol

Until his back spasms kick in ruining that entire plan. lol

Ramona Shelburne made a great point.....

The Lakers don't need all 5 of their goofballs to hit.....if 2-3 are still good plus James and the kids (they naturally will improve)......they'll be fine.

And that's the thing. People want to act like the Lakers signed these guys long term and/or were expecting a title this year.

These guys are fillers brought in to challenge the youngsters, shore up the defense, hopefully get the kids some playoff experience and get them to next summer. If a couple of them hit...awesome. Maybe 1 or 2 even get invited back.

Any of them who prove to be more trouble than they are worth, won't be back and may even be released during the season.

Here's the thing.....he is going to be 30 in Sep.

Say they trade him next summer.....he'll be closing in on 31 and has a history of injuries....

Making 30 million? That's a tough pill to swallow....

Possibly. Depends on their match up.
The match ups for 6, 7 & 8 seeds in the WC are usually pretty tough. If this season is anything like the last few seasons they could draw either GS, Hou or SA, OKC, Utah. I'm not liking their chances against those teams in a 7 game series.
