Weather is Weather. Deal with it.
fine.
but if Arkie don't get to the Beaver starter within 3 innings, things will get tough.
Weather is Weather. Deal with it.
The rain out favors Oregon State.
That gives their staff the extra day's rest. Their staff's arms
were used a great deal more than Arky.
Both teams thou were saved by the game never starting.
If they had started the game, and it had last 3 innings or such,
and then suspended to Tuesday, both squads would have lost
their ace's for the remainder of the tourney. I can't see Arky
winning any slugfests. They need starters going 7 and low run
production.
I agree with the Oregon St staff needing the extra day's rest. However, I could see heat becoming a factor on Wednesday and/or Thursday (if necessary). It appears to have been a factor in Oregon St's opening loss against North Carolina. They made their way through the losers bracket with Corvallis like temperatures.
The temperatures do favor Oregon St again tonight as it's only going to be 80° today. However, not getting game one in yesterday bought Arkansas an extra day to get the temperatures back up.
Arkansas had the benefit of scouting Oregon St on Saturday the 23rd. Van Horn was a spectator.
Arkansas will also have home crowds. It's only a 6 hour drive from Fayetteville.
Arkansas will be throwing it's ace.
Oregon St's offense has been on fire though. They are only the 2nd team ever ('95 Cal St Fullerton) to score 11+ runs in 3 straight games. However, that streak ended in the (5-2) win over Mississippi St on Saturday.
In their (12-2) win over Mississippi St the day prior, Mississippi St pitchers walked 9 and hit 2 Oregon St batters. A few clutch hits and you can see how things get out of hand with that many on base.
Alas, Cal St Fullerton's 3 game 11+ run streak did win the CWS championship in '95. It was their last 3 games. The championship back then was just a single game as opposed to the 'Best of 3' format that we have now.
GO HOGS!!!!
.
Well, there's one other item that could be a negative against
Oregon St. Focus.
They lost their first game of the tourney. They had their backs
to the wall for a week. They won 5 straight to reach the finals.
Now, to OSU's credit they weren't dog-piling when they won
their 5th game. They just shook hands and took it as another
win. But in a situation like that...they could have let out a
loud..."Whew." And usually a "whew" signals a let down.
Their focus, after losing that first game was to get to the finals.
They could be ripe for a let down. They achieved their secondary
goal.
You need focus in baseball over emotion. I've never thought of
emotion as having an affect on the outcome like football and/or
basketball. I don't care how excited you are, if someone is throwing BB's at you...you need focus...not rah-rah.
'Course Arky could have gotten board in their layoff. Rusty, per se.
I like that OSU line-up though. I really like their catcher. He's a
player.
were playing "t-ball rules" in the college world series now…
WHO THE FUCK MAKES THAT KIND OF A CRAPPY CALL?
2-0 BEAVERZ!
Someone give Heimlich the heimlich maneuver. He’s dying out there.
Actually Oregon St is the one playing t-ball rules.
The interference rule says you have to slide like a man, not duck like a kid.
.
LOLZ 2 PAT CASEY GETTIN FUCKED TWICE BY THE UMPS IN 5 INNINGS…
were playin in "tee-ball rules land".
