The Athletic, which I'm subscribed to, is having a Q&A session with 2 beat writers, botchford and some other guy.
I point blank asked

" were we in any of the discussions for Mark Stone or Wayne Simmons?"

Got no answer yet.

Mark Stone would make sense for the Canucks, but Wayne Simmonds does not - That said, I think Mark Stone didn't want to move from one re-building team to another (the Canucks are further along than the Senators, mind you). Simmonds only makes sense if you think your team is contending for the Cup.

Your question probably went into a junk folder :thumb:

I would guess canucks were going to throw big money at stone in the summer but why would he sign here. Im worried they throw money at simmonds now. :gaah:

Don't forget Eberle, Skinner, Lee and Nelson are available in the summer too.

Duchene will not be, so stop thinking that.

LOL.

Again with that line?

Didn't work when EK left and it sure as shit won't work with Stone and Duchene gone.

At least hire a new coach before you spout that shit. Then maybe it would be a little bit believable.

Holy fuck, he doubled down on it.

I mean, in around 5 years they could be deadly provided the owner doesn't sell what they got and are about to get for table scraps.

Started off slow but picked up towards the end as happens every trade deadline. Ottawa did good on the Duchene return but they whiffed on the Stone return. Should have got more than what they got for Stone.

Marner might be available (via offer sheet)

And so will Kapanen and Johnsson, but not Laine, Trouba, Connor, Point, W. Karlsson, Tkachuk, Rantanen, Werenski, Murray or Aho because only Leafs can be in offer sheet rumours and spoken about incessantly throughout the season.

And as we all remember, one of their best players was unsigned and available for offer sheeting for 5 months last year and he was just fucking swimming in offer sheets. Offer sheets for as far as the eye could see! THESE GM'S ARE JUST OUT OF CONTROL WITH THE OFFER SHEETING!

I actually like what Dorian did. His hands were tied and I think he got aa prett solid stockpile of picks/prospects.

Apparently GMJR not only failed to learn from the JJ failure, he decided to double down on it. (Wideman is fine, but oof on Gudbrandson.)
Come on now Gudbrandson brings that level of toughness that left when Oleksiak was traded. :L

He did manage to do a decent job turning a shit sandwich into a decent dinner.

But you can't let him off the hook for trading away his top five scorers in less than 12 months.

I mean this weekend he traded 77 goals for 11.

3 stars for one usable roster piece. And says he's proud and they are better.

Two of the guys traded wore "A" and the one over the summer wore the C.

Pierre - stop talking.

I guess I should have thrown in some sarcasm tags for my Gubberson post above lol
Just remember thanks to GMJR this happened:

Washington: Received Carl Hagelin (expiring contract)
Kings: Received a 3rd ('19) and 6th ('20) round pick
Canucks: Received Tanner Pearson (3.75 for two more years)
Penguins: Gudbranson (4 for two more years)

Pretty obvious who got the short end of this deal.
