Probably spooked by his extension ask. $9.5m/yr in Vegas probably was $10m/yr in Calgary and without Tkachuk signed I figure they balked.

Still, I would've done it and worried about the rest in the summer. No shortage of teams on the lookout for forwards with term and Calgary would've had a shit ton to trade from and maybe a Cup to boot.
