Demps is picking up his phone and returning calls — just not from the Lakers, sources said. From Paul George to Leonard to Davis, the Lakers’ front office is growing accustomed to icy receptions from teams enduring All-Star trade demands with a full year left on their contracts
And why would he? It isn't brain surgery to understand why it could be perceived as a conflict for them to do a trade w/ the Lakers and then when you add to that if they are just patient they could end up with a better deal it's almost a no brainer - except to Laker fans that is. lol

We'll see.....especially as reported if AD's agent tells other teams he'll be a rental till 2020 when he walks. Might just water down trade offers.....

That's where I could see the Pels being a bit salty for dilluting the offers they would get for Davis

If Gregg Popovich has his way, the New Orleans Pelicanswon't send Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers.

On Tuesday's episode of First Take on ESPN, Stephen A. Smith reported Popovich told Pelicans general manager Dell Demps "don't cave" to the Lakers in trade talks for Davis.

Rumor: Gregg Popovich cautioned Dell Demps about trading Anthony Davis to Lakers
IMO with 17 months left on his current deal they made a move way too early to try to force his way out of NO. Now you will have other GMs trying to strategize to help put up road blocks in his path to LA for at least the next season & a half. They should've just waited until this season was over & then asked for a trade. SMH

Oh, it's a no-brainer to Lakers fans too. We're just hoping that the Pels don't see it that way or just want to move past this asap. That's pretty much the only way he becomes a Laker before this season is over.

If you don't get him by the deadline, you won't get him until 2020, if then.

Lmfao

I just said yesterday Davis for Zingers, pick, Knox.

I would LMFAO if they get any variation of that deal done.

lol so you think adding an expiring contract to trade your franchise player to a team in your same conference - that mind you will catapult them to the top of your conference - is suffice payment for NOLA?? hahaha yea if I'm the owner you'd have no choice but to wait until he's a FA to get him in LA.

He's there to match salary under cap rules, and comes off the books at the end of the season if they don't want to retain him. In trades with franchises expecting to be active in free agency, that's a plus.

New Orleans doesn't want to trade with LA regardless; they're butt-hurt and want to send AD East anyway. One more season and it will be up to AD where he signs.

Lmfao....damn.

New Orleans officials are prepared to play the long game on Davis' future, embarking on an uncomfortable, if not combative process that could extend months beyond next Thursday's trade deadline.

If Davis wants to be a Laker, the Pelicans' mantra so far is simply: Feel free to join L.A. as a free agent in 2020 and potentially punt on the 2019-20 season -- when James will turn 35 -- to keep the requisite cap space open.

Sources: Pelicans GM hasn't returned Lakers' call

THIS
Which is why Rich Paul made that announcement now rather than waiting. But it also could end up turning more GMs off in the process. If I'm an owner this would terrify me & make me want to rethink signing guys to long term deals. What is the point if they're going to bully their way out of them?

What's funny is everyone was up in arms about KD leaving OKC - but compared to this circus he looks like an angel! At least he kept his mouth shut and played hard until his contract was FINISHED. SMH
