Ball's camp announcing where Lonzo would like to play just pretty much threw a monkey wrench in the Lakers plans to get AD lol.

Lonzo's in no position for his camp to tell anyone where he wants to play. Who the hell does he think he is?:pound:

Maybe. I don't know if Klay will demand a max deal. If he does, I'll be surprised if the Warriors don't give it to him.

Plus, if he were truly interested in going to the Lakers, I think we'd have heard something by now. At least an unsubstantiated rumor from a "source".

I mean, I'm sure he knows that, with or without AD, he would be about as perfect a teammate for Lebron as you could find and that with him on the team, a lot of the "guys don't want to play with Lebron" stuff would probably go away. So they wouldn't have much trouble finding guys who will want to join that duo.

From everything I've seen and heard, Klay is very happy where he's at. Even his Dad has come out and said as much. I think the Lakers probably have a better shot at KD than Klay. I only put the Lakers chances of getting KD at about 10% and that's assuming Magic is parked in his driveway an hour before FA starts like he was with Lebron. lol
Agreed about Klay - I also just don't think he wants to play with LBJ.

And on your point about KD, you can't him AND AD. So, with this push to get AD IMO pretty much assures the league you're not getting KD.

Lmao....

Even Tatum's own father knows he should get dealt in a Davis deal.

"Jayson Tatum's dad came to me ... and said, 'I've got a bone to pick with you. ... You said you'd trade my son for Anthony Davis.' And I said, 'And?' And he said, 'Well, I probably would trade him too if he wasn't my son.' "

Maxwell then took that story to Jayson, who came right out with it.

"Yeah, I'd trade me too for Anthony Davis," Tatum told Maxwell.

What has he done?

Played a meaningful role on a ECF Team.

Play defense.

We are halfway into the Season.

You are speculating about where those picks will land just like the rest of us.

So, until proven otherwise, the Celtics have the better assets.

I like Jaylen more than most. Ainge hung onto him in light of potentially shipping him off for a star and last playoffs looked like a genius. The Celtics concerned me coming into this year that there was not enough minutes or basketballs to keep Rozier, Brown etc all on the same team and I thought they should've shipped one while their value was its highest. I'm not seeing anything this year to prove me wrong.

I think Jaylens issue this year is not enough minutes and trying to figure how he fits in. Put him in another situation and he would shine as he did last year imo

Well his camp (probably just LaVar)think they have a say so because they seem to go in damage control mode anytime they sense he will be traded.

More specifically last summer when Lonzo suddenly had to have surgery on his ankle. I felt like that was an attempt to make him less appealing to other teams so he would be off the market.

If they were to get AD you think Klay considers LA if he doesn't get max in GS? I highly doubt he goes anywhere other than GS, but things change. I honestly think if you put some shooters and good role players around AD, Lebron and maybe a very good player that will be enough.
I think that's a real possibility and I think the Warriors owners know it. They've made very few dumb moves, I doubt they start now. If he wants the max he's getting it. KD is the key, he may want to leave regardless.

Well you have to start somewhere. Part of the Pelicans problem in the past with respects to AD are twofold:

1) Mismanagement of their cap space and inability to sign free agents.
2) Trading away all draft picks.

They'd essentially be doing a 180 in this respect and trying to foundation-ally build the "correct" way.

But the biggest thing is that the cap space will allow the Pelicans to absorb contracts for more picks as well. Their rebuild is going to be at least a 2-3 year turn around. Having max cap space also allows them to drive up market prices on other free agents and impact the market that way too.
Yeah, I can agree with this.

But, that same goal can be accomplished by trading Jrue for an expiring contract or a young guy.

Example.

Jrue for Smith, Wesley Matthews, Devin Harris.

Yeah, but more assets are always better than less. Why limit yourself?

Depends on the assets.

Which is why I say they should roll with the Celtics if they offer Tatum.

Quantity doesn't trump quality.

I'd rather have one 6 oz steak with Lobster over 7 whopper Jr's...lol

Absolutely. Again I didn't say the Lakers offer was better but the differentiator would be that the Lakers can offer cap space. So if the Celtics continue to low ball, the Lakers become a very real possiblity even with lesser actual talent going back.

Agree 100%.

Neither team should try to play chicken.

Fun fact:

Trade deadline is Feb. 7th.

Lakers play at Boston Feb. 7th.

If Davis is still a Pelican , it could mean the Celtics have put Tatum in play.

If they clear Ball and Ingram off the books in getting AD.....it opens up the ability to get another max player in the summer......fact.

So if you're AD would you prefer LeBron/LA and the spare parts plus another Max or playing in Boston with Kyrie and whoever is left and....Gordon

LEBRON. I mean we have already seen how Lebron can make everyone around him better and AD's usage with probably be just as higher but probably higher than Lebron's. Lebron would want this to be AD's team very soon, just like he tried to do with Kyrie.

As far as winning, it all depends on what GS does in the offseason. If KD leaves than as far as the top of the West compared to the top of the East--pretty even. If KD stays you might never get out of the west let alone get to a ship in L.A. unless you get that 3rd star in the offseason and even then, you never know.

I agree w/ you. Just anytime people are speaking for Lonzo I'm worried it's an alert that Lavar's gonna return & run his yapper to the media. We don't need that headache.

Hey would you watch a sports related show w/ Papa Ball & Stephen A. & regular guest appearances by Skippy Bayless? There would be no commercials because none of them can shut the fuck up for 5 seconds when it's their time to talk.

I hope KD leaves and tries to set out and win one on his own. If he wants to be in the top ten all time convo he will have to Imo

But yes I agree with you on LA and LeBron. Then AD takes over and it's his team in a limelight as big as any in the league.

I agree with your points - and have already said as much. They are absolutely hoping that NOLA takes the bait & takes the lesser deal with the Lakers. But as I've said before, if I'm NOLA I purposely wait until the summer - even if it means I get less just to make sure he doesn't team up with LBJ in my same conference.

I agree. Unless they just want to "get it over with" the Pels should wait until the summer. Not to stick it to the Lakers, but because if Rich Paul can't depress the market, they can get a better deal.

If I'm the Pels GM, I know that losing AD means a rebuild. So I'm going to be interested in the best offer and I don't really care who it's from.

Obviously, I'd prefer to send him East where I don't have to deal with facing him 4 or 5 times a season. But, end of the day, if the best offer is from the Lakers, that's the one I'm taking because it's what's best for the rebuild.

Besides, if AD is set on the Lakers, I'd only be delaying the inevitable for 1 year anyway.
