the Warriors would be receiving players. I got that from reddit, but i believe that it basically operates as if you are over the tax apron you cannot engage in sign and trades. I gotta say, sign and trades basically never happen anymore so its not something i know a lot about. I reall cant remember the last sign and trade i saw inthe new CBA.
Was Gallo new or old CBA?

That's the last one I remember period.

It's funny listening to sportstalk radio out here right now. A show I'm listening to right now...one guys is panicking and wants the Lakers to trade Lebron.

The other guy is saying "Calm down, it was a tough season derailed by injuries and drama. You can't just pull the plug after 1 injury riddled season."
I think I agree more with the second one, but nothing wrong with kicking the tires and seeing what you could get for him IF it meant maybe 2 among Durant, Kyrie and Kawhi would come.

Me too.

He's looked heavy since he got back from the injury. I think that has more to do with him not really knowing how to deal with the injury since he's never really had to deal with one before.

He was bound to have an injury at some point in his career. It's actually pretty amazing that he's been in the league this many years and never had one.

Hopefully, it was just the odds catching up to him rather than something that's going to be a problem. At his age, it's hard to know.
Hasn't been as long as this one, but he has had back pain he has dealt with for stretches. Different than a hammy, but back pain sucks.

Ok, but you could have kept the kids, signed Lebron and kept Randall.....or at least dealt Randall if you knew you were letting him walk.
Yeah, they could have, unless he decided to pull a Mccaw.

I think part of the disconnect between our positions comes from the fact that I am making a few assumptions.

Assumption #1.

This AD bullshit was preplanned by Klutch as soon as George signed in OKC.

Davis enjoyed playing with Rondo.

So, I think that signing was more about having a starting caliber PG because they knew they were dealing Ball.

Assumption#2

They had to bring back KCP as the price of doing business to get LeBron.

Handle was odd man out, financially.

How would they have paid him if they dealt him before the trade deadline during the 2017-18 season?
Why would they deal him before they had a big fish on the hook?

What if LeBron went elsewhere?

Trading Randle would have been worse than dealing DLO instead if the pick that became Lonzo.

And that's fine, but still does not explain why not trade him if you know you aren't keeping him. I cannot imagine there was a better contract at the deadline than the rest of his $5 mil deal, and then you get him as a RFA. I would bet at the next deadline he has the best available contract again.

Now Kyrie is saying someone has already walked on Mars.

Does the league drug test all players?

They didn't know they had Lebron before they renounced Randle's rights.

Which deadline do you speak of?

The one pre, or post, LeBron?

Totally.

I also think he would have fit well with LeBron.

I said from the beginning that Lance would be a disaster.

I wasn't totally right.

But, I wasn't totally wrong either....lol

I was worried about the Bucks because 4 of their 5 starters are gonna be free agents.

But, they have to keep the band together.

That Lopez deal also brought Kyle Kuzma to L.A. and sent D'Angelo Russell to Brooklyn who he btw is now an all-star caliber player enjoying his career best season on a playoff bound team.
Win win for all parties concerned?

I was thrilled when former Buckeye D'Angelo Russell was traded outta LA LA Land. Ever since the trade I've been able to root for him.

Agree.

In fairness, keeping the pick that they used on Lonzo isn't the most egregious mistake of the Magic Johnson era.

Like you said, it got em Kuz and rid them of Mosgov.

The biggest error was taking Ball over Fox.

Maybe that changes is a few years.

But, I see this being way worse than the Jazz taking Deron Williams over CP3.

At least Williams managed to eek out multiple All-Star berths and a few All NBA Teams.

Tornto's kryptonite, though, has been Lebron most years. Maybe this changes things, but who knows?

There are reasons to like all 4, but reasons to doubt all 4 too.

But I agree Toronto is different.

Kawhi, Green, Siakam and Gasol provide a much different look.

How do you know that?
Because they had to renounce before FA began.

If you want to say they knew he was coming, fine, but could say they knew at the deadline so could have moved Randle.

I'm guessing because, tampering aside, LeBron wasn't a sure bet.

Again: I'm guessing.
OK, but if you believe this then he was not a sure bet when they renounced Randle's rights pre FA.

Only thing I question is are they really better off with Gasol over JV? 3-5 years ago Gasol, sure. But still? But either way, they are still a team to reckon with.

Guy I think got a raw deal there was Casey. Nothing against Nurse, but they had the same winning % last year as they do this one. Team Casey took over - Detroit - looks more formidable with Casey.
