maybe so, but I'd hardly call that "coaching"...
Fair point, but more than some are willing to do.

FTR, I'm not saying Lue is anything special. But the guy did win a title his first year then lost to a team no one else has beaten and is called the best ever by some.

Lue did what exactly? Not much. James, Irving, and Love as the #3 option is a pretty good trio. Almost anybody could coach them to a title.....

Jackson was taking ver the Warriors when they absolutely sucked......2 very different situatons.....
I think that's all fair, but what did he do wrong? He beat a 73 win team and lost to a team many call the best ever (who no one had beaten).

People openly talked about his poor coaching decisions, primarily x's and o's.....and his subbing patterns weren't always the best.

To be fair to Magic and Pelinka, there wasn't a lot left, especially dependable shooters. They really didn't have a lot to choose from. Much of the talk was just trying to put lipstick on a pig. lol

I think the trades for Bullock and Muscala show that they realize that roster was flawed from the start and are trying to correct it.

I think we all knew that this roster, especially the 1 year guys, was just a bridge to next season and that if they lost anyone, especially Lebron, for any length of time, this is what we were in for.

Even fully healthy, they were likely never as good as the 4 seed they were sitting at when Lebron and Rondo went down and they aren't as bad as their current 10th seed either.
Agree completely....only issue I'd have was when they were trying to sell it as them needing to try something different than the Cavs and the media nodding in agreement.

See this @trojanfan12?

Please tell us who they were candidates to get @bksballer89?

Lakers signed Rondo, McGee, and Lance on either July 1st or July 2nd.

There were PLENTY of better role players available on those days.

Free agency literally started on July 1st and the only guys who agreed to verbal agreements prior to July 1st were top unrestricted free agents such as DeAndre, Paul George, KD and Cp3

There were plenty available players on the 1st and 2nd day of free agency to go for

same here...

reminds of back a couple of decades ago when Barry Switzer was "coaching" the Cowboys. You or I could have coached that team and came away with titles because they were simply too talented to lose...
Just more proof of what I've been saying....... Jimmy Johnson gets credit for winning with the same team.

Don't like a coach he gets blamed and no credit. Like a coach and he gets credit and no blame.

I wish Fizdale hadn't got the Knicks job.....he's who I really wanted when the Grizzlies let him go.
I was hoping if the Cavs dumped Lue (before knowing what Lebron would do) I hoped he'd be the replacement. Alsways found he was a guy who could do more with less. Not showing it in NY, but guessing they don't care about wins.

Good comparison.
How was it a good comparison? Lue took over a team that had never won a title then won a title. Curry took the team backwards.

Only way it would have been a good comparison was if he took a team that played for a title to one that could not get back there.

Paul Westhead won a title......FYI: he wasn't very good.

Curry probably could have been the coach and the Cavs would have still won.

Great. made all these poor decisions yet somehow won a title and played for 2 others. You saying if he were better they'd have knocked off the Durant led Warriors?

I'm saying with an even above average talented team that requires some work he will fail.

These Lakers need more than Lue can provide.
wont disagree because I've never seen him coach such a team. But because I have no agenda I wont say he couldn't do it.

what I know he did do was face a 73 win team in the Finals who was a heavy favorite and his team won. Then as a heavy underdog the next 2 years they lost, though still played well enough to get there.

Enshrine him in the HOF since you love him so much. You should be his campaign manager for enshrinement.

Other teams minus a LeBron should be beating down the door for Lue then

Guess we will see

Ok, but that's not the comparison that was used that you agreed with. It was said he was like Curry who took a great team and they took a step back. That was clearly not the case with Lue (at least not before Durant joined GS).
