Yep and I've said before they were my second favorite team for a while (and probably will be again this playoffs) and despite his horrible shooting at times the guy brings it every night and his team feeds off his energy
I'm rooting for OKC and Philly.

I wouldn't be sad if the Bucks won either.

Sadly...

You're not joking. Them reaching adulthood doesn't help much either.

My son is 22 and lives at home with my wife and I. Every time he says he's going someplace, I have to bite my tongue to keep from telling him no. Funny thing is, he's such a good son, that if I did tell him no...he wouldn't go. lol

My daughter and the 2 step-daughters are all 3 married and I still worry about them too. Every time one of them calls or texts, my first thought is..."What's wrong? What's happened?"
Well, thanks....

Now I have nothing to look forward to.....lol

But they didn't have the outright best odds to land LeBron. The previous year both the Cavs & Nuggets only won 17 games.

And yes, Lebron ended in Cleveland because he's from NE Ohio I think.

The Admiral was the # 1 pick in '87. Duncan was the # 1 pick in '97. I don't see the comparison between the Cavs getting the # 1 pick 2x in 3 years compared to the Spurs gettting the # 1 twice in 11 years.
Can you explain why the NBA wants Lebron in Cleveland just because he is from the area? How does this help the NBA?

SA was not a lottery team all that much between 87-97 because they had Robinson. But when he went down they tanked and won it again. How could it be the fixed lottery put those 2 big stars in SA?

why did Portland and Seattle win the Oden/Durant lottery? why has NY not won in nearly 35 years?

Pretty sure we could be talking prison time if word of a fix ever came out.

Just not buying the rigged lottery idea. There's a reputable accounting firm in the room, right? sure, you could say the league hired them but would look pretty bad for them and the league if someone ever got pissed and spilled the beans.

Knicks haven't picked #1 in nearly 35 years. In the Durant/Oden draft Portland and Seattle won of all teams.

I've never bought that nonsense. Aside from the fsact that there's a reputable accounting firm, I just think there would have to be too many people in on it to pull it off and someone would eventually spill the beans.

What's that old saying? "Two people can keep a secret as long as one of them is dead".

Okay you dn't think the lottery has ever been rigged. A suggestion. Start a thread asking NBA fans if they think it's ever been rigged. I'd bet money more people would say that's happened than would say it hasn't.

And you really went out on a limb saying the Spurs weren't a lottery team much between '87 & '97. Actually they were a lottery team only once in that period, in '88 the year before Robinson arrived.

I think it's hilarious that the NBA threatened to fine the Pelicans.

Over the past few years, Jr Smith, Deng, Noah, Kanter, Parker have all been healthy scratches or banished from the team.

Yet, nobody got fined.

The difference, imo, is that none of them are top 5 players in the league.

I do think it could have been rigged in the year Ewing won. would bet against it, but seems more feasible with that format than the current one.

You really think a guy like Mark Cuban is gonna allow the lottery to be rigged and not for his team when he is in the lottery? Come on.

No doubt, but where does the NBA draw the line or set the threshold on talent level for when a team can and cannot sit a healthy player?

we know Davis is too good. JR not good enough. what about, say, Jae Crowder? Can he sit if healthy? Note my comments are ripping the NBA, not questioning your comments.

He has turned the corner.

Both he, and George, have changed the narrative on who I thought they were as players.

I need to see them both do it in the playoffs before I buy in.

I've been a PG fanboy for awhile, but he hasn't exactly been money in the playoffs.

We've seen Westbrook be fine with sharing the ball in the regular season, but we've also seen him go "hero ball" in the playoffs and forget that he had another superstar on the court with him.

I don't buy into the conspiracy theories. But the reason would be to raise up a small market team that, except for a couple of years in the 90's, has been mostly terrible.

It would be to put a dent in the "only teams from major markets can win" complaints. Add to that a "hometown kid leads them to the top of the NBA" feel good story and that's great publicity for the league.

I guess if you are looking for reasons those qualify but the conspiracy theorists seem to point to the league favoring the large market teams. You can't tell me if the league had their choice where he went they'd have chosen Cleveland.

I'm not sure. I honestly can't remember a time where the NBA has stepped in and made this kind of threat and I'm not sure we'll see it ever again.

I think the reason the league office did this is because the whole AD drama was a bad look for the league. Made it look like the inmates were running the asylum.

I think that perception is partly why Magic was fined twice for tampering even though the first one was borderline tampering at best and the 2nd one wasn't tampering at all.

I think the fines and the threat to the Pels were the result of the league trying to show that they are in control.

That's the point though. The "large market/small market" complaints have been going on for years.

It didn't have to be Cleveland, it could have been any other area with a small market team. It just happened to be that Lebron was from there. Had he been from Indiana, or some other small market team, it would have been the same.

Again, I don't think it has been rigged, but if it were, I think that would be the reason.

Oh I agree. IF it were rigged that could be why, but like you I don't think it was rigged.
