lol for 2 weeks?

i mean no team is axing their GM right before the trade deadline when they have a bunch of irons in the fire and are making moves.

"Hey this is the Bucks on the phone- can we get Demps? We are gonna accept that offer for Mirotic------ oh- wait ? Demps was just fired??, well, thats awkward"

Demps was toast as soon as AD made his trade demand. He wasn't saving his job after that.

In all honesty, he probably shouldn't have survived the Chris Paul fiasco or years of underachieveing rosters surrounding Anthony Davis.

This was long overdue.

So when did @WiggyRuss start taking this turn on owning debates? I really need to start coming on these forums more. Like seriously, when the shit did this happen?

Because I'm going to be realistic, I'm throwing the ship and offering up any sacrificial lamb that the Pelicans want to get AD with the exception of Lebron. If the Pelicans want to take turns on Jeanie Buss, that can be included on the deal as well.

Point being, Lonzo Kuzma and Ingram will never come close to the player that AD is. We can argue growth night and day. But be realistic, if the Lakers landed AD, you damn sure know you wouldn't give two shits what you gave up to get him.

Yeah, I agree. Maybe 1 or 2 of Ingram, Ball or Kuzma eventually improve enough that they are on, or close to, AD's level.

But if they do, we're likely talking 2-4 years from now.

AD is at the level he's at now and signing Lebron means the Lakers no longer have the luxury of waiting to see what they can become.

You are right.

He would not have gotten a commitment.

But, if LeBron thought the Cavs had a snowball's chance in hell at a championship AND Gilbert was still letting him call the shots, I believe he would have delayed his departure at least another year.

Gilbert didn't do either, so LeBron left.
something tells me with hindsight with or without those moves, Lebron wishes he waited 1 more year.

I really don't think he does.

Because Cleveland was the same dead end without those moves.

They went to the Finals last year and had pieces they could have moved.

That said, you are probably right as I don't think he really cared about winning right away. Clearly.

I tried to tell y’all AD is a grown man, and will make up his own mind about where he wants to play. Not his dad, not his agent. This doesn’t mean he’s definitely going to Boston, or would re-sign there, but he’d be a fool not to consider them seriously if he gets traded there.

Anthony Davis was asked about the perception the Celtics were not a preferred destination. He then repeated several times: “They were never not on my list.”

Anthony Davis is going to be a Celtic unless the Knicks get and offer the #1 pick.

it will either be:

Tatum, some cap flotsam, Sacramento pick, and another couple first rounders, maybe a smaller piece or two like Yabusale or Ojeleye

or

Jaylen Brown, Rozier, Sacramento pick, Memphis pick, 2 Boston 1st rounders. Maybe some smaller pieces like like Yabusale or Ojeleye

This was long overdue.

The funny thing, imo, is that his attempt to embarrass the Lakers, while successful, may have also been the final nail in his coffin.

While there were a lot of folks getting a good laugh (deservedly so) at the Lakers FO being made to look inexperienced...it also made Demps and the Pelicans look petty and small.

Had Demps simply said, "We are not entertaining any trade offers for AD until after the season", the Lakers likely back off and Demps may still have his job.

Instead, he chose to "troll" the Lakers and seems to be the source of the leaks re: what was being offered and may have actually made some of it up.

Considering his track record, this may end up being a very good thing for the Pels though.

i dont think Demps "chose" anything. I think the owner and management ran him the entire time and it was the terrible job he did over the years that fianlly did him in.

I wouldnt want Demps in charge of trading Anthony Davis.

I would have much much more faith in Danny Ferry, or, as a rumor indicated, Griffin, who they are going to interview for the job.

Demps has made so few good moves in his time its crazy. I can name a few good ones- trading for Mirotic, drafting Hield, signing Randle to that 2 year 18M deal.

He totally killed the franchise with how he handled the Cousins deal- at that point he was all in on Cousins and should have resigned him.

guy was an idiot that had his job too long and the owner didnt trust him to competently handle the Davis situation.

Good for him.

Kid could use a win after the way this Season has gone.

I stayed tuned as long as I could, until it became unwatchable.

They act like you will get called for a flagrant 2 foul if you even contemplate playing defense.

FFS.....Frank Kaminsky, who's ass is glued to the bench in Charlotte of all places, scored 33 last year, Jaylon Brown 35, Jamal Murray 36.

But, I like this World vs. format a lot better than Rooks vs. Sophomores.

if the Lakers moved on from Davis and made the following moves, do people think they would be a contender to win the WEst next year if Durant leaves GSW?

-trade for Beal with Ball/Ingram and a first or two

-sign Vucevic

-resign Rondo

PG: Rondo
SG: Beal
SF: LeBron
PF: Kuzma
C: Vucevic

they could probably make that work cap wise- it would not be easy- but they could probably make it work.
