Steph Curry actually refused to work out for the Warriors or share any medical records, etc. He wanted to go to the Knicks. Luckily for us he wasn't a complete douchebag who refused to then play for the team. But he sure made it difficult for the Warriors to draft him. It was clear he didn't want to play for the Warriors, who also had Monta Ellis.

Tellem called Nash and relayed the same message on behalf of his client. He even went so far as to threaten to have Kobe play in Italy if the Nets selected him.

It is possible that Magic was being completely innocent here but it is also possible that he was trying to push the Sixers to allow Ben to talk with him.
