I agree that the asking price will steep but I don't think the Rangers want to go into the season with what we have available in the outfield. Our defense out there will stink worse than it did last year

Other than a weak arm, Deshields really doesn't deserve your persistent ire

He had 2 defensive runs saved in the OF, actually across the board he rates as above average minus his arm

To compete we will need a TORP, a closer and a CF IMO and in that order. Even then we are talent wise quite a bit behind the Astros which is of course no earth shattering news. We would then have a chance but there is no good strategy trading legitimate MLB prospects from fill a CF position unless his name is Buxton.

That being said it is way too soon to tank but this can be obviously be addressed at the break

Pitching, pitching, and more pitching needs to be the focus, I have no problem with Deshields in CF as long as he's the CFer from last year

The lineup needs work but its mostly from the young guys that need a chance to improve and progress, maybe a better backup catcher but I actually like Nicholas there

C - Chirinos (Hoping it wasn't a one hit wonder for Chirinos)
1B - Gallo (Hopeful for more growth at the plate)
2B - Odor (Hopeful for a rebound year... or a trade, insert Profar but not likely)
3B - Beltre (Hoping for health/No sharp decline)
SS - Andrus (Hoping for no sharp regression)
LF - Calhoun (Hoping for above average, but no time like the present)
CF - Deshields (I've already stated my piece above about his defense)
RF - Maz (Hoping for a breakout)
DH - Choo (Hoping for a little better, but while he's still here, it's his)

UTIL - Robinson (COF, CF, CIF, MIF)
BUC - Nicholas

Might need someone to spell Andrus at SS if they decide Robinson can't play SS

Maybe a cup of coffee, if Beltre gets hurt, for Guzman

7 of our top 30 prospects are outfielders so yes in my eyes that is a glut.
Most anyone that would be asked for in a significant trade would be in our top 10 prospects. We don't have a glut of anything among those type of prospects.

I like the Greinke with Choo going to Snakes pending other details. Just thinking that frees up Calhoun and we could slide DeShields to LF and maybe pick up a guy like Dyson. DDJ could improve on his reads but his speed was surely very good. Arm is what bugs me

What we do with Profar is quite interesting. Definitely pitching is always in the forefront and without that probably best to go with DeShields

I thought we had need of 6 things as well as have some young guys produce in order to get back to prominence. I knew we wouldn't get all 6 positions this offseason, but so far we haven't gotten any of them.

Might be time to take Yu and Prince off the Rangers home page pic and add Pudge and Nolan....

Choo and prospects for Greinke, Profar+ for Archer would be sweet

A 22 year-old CF from the Phillies organization who hit .307 at AA this past season.

I guess we have our CF.
